Last year, something that pleased me about Wakarusa was the inclusion of regional acts like Bockman's Euphio, Big Metal Rooster and Speakeasy. Can we expect any of them to be added to the bill this year?

I still contend that Waka needs more local acts spread throughout the weekend. Well, I hope the Owngrown stage does local music some justice and picks up the slack! I've said it before....why is there no local love for The Yards?!? How about some DeWayn Brothers or Loco Macheen? RSP? Mother Kali? The Kind? Brent Barry? We should be proud of our local musicians and give them the shot to showcase their talent in front of a national audience!

I thought the Yards broke up. There was an article in Lawrence.com last year about how they were doing their final show. Are they back???

As far as I know, the Yards are no more, and Brent Berry literally disappeared from the Lawrence scene and music in general over a year ago. Rumor has it that he's in Europe or something. Regardless, I would imagine that Owngrown tent information will be posted soon.

I wasn't aware that The Yards were done, but Brent Barry is now teamed up with a group called Honest Abe out of Taos...they just played 3 shows in KC and Lawrence last week...

It's good to hear Brent is back in any respect. Thanks for the heads up. I wish I had known about it before the shows, I definitely would have checked them out. The Roots Crew was always a pleasure.
Here's a link to their website for any of y'all that miss him as much as I do:

We're working on it gb, it's really busy around here though. These bands will definitely be playing Wakarusa so don't fret.
