Alright good people! Who's down for a Columbia dose of grumble boogie? I know I've been jonesing since the Blue Springs show got canceled......

If lots of people are coming (and you should!), I can look into cheap(ish) hotel rooms. Our house will be pretty full, and I think the weather means no campouts this time. If there's a bunch of people, raging a hotel would be easier than crowding into our little house after the show.

If you don't want/can't afford a hotel, but still need to get your booty shakin, let me know. If you don't mind the couch/floor, I might be able to stable you up for a night with some of our degenerate friends..... :-)

We'll be pre-priming at BaconAlien HQ - all are welcome for drinks, burgers, and merriment! Let me know if you're coming, so I'll know how many burgers to make.

Dirtfoot is headlining at Mojos, and I'm hoping we can fill the joint! It's a triple bill with the Monads and the Hooten Hallers, and both opening bands are very entertaining!

Who's in?

I'm definitely there and I'm hoping to drag along a few other STL folks too!

I've seen the Monads before - they opened for the Hackensaw Boys here a few years back. They play acoustic instruments but are known to get a little wild on them.

From their website:

From the muddy banks of the mighty Mississippi comes the sheer energy and wild acoustic abandon that is the Monads. By combining elements of Americana, bluegrass, outlaw country and rockabilly with the aggressive delivery of punk, the Monads craft a unique style of music that has been dubbed “Black and Bluegrass.”

They were voted Best Bluegrass Band in St. Louis for 2008 and Best Country Band in 2006. And you gotta appreciate a little lady rocking a full-sized stand-up bass!

I'm there. I needs to get away!! This winter is bugging the living **** out of me and maybe this will help. (Just as long as there isn't another snowstorm here and points south!)

I am pretty sure Krissy and I are in!! I can probably stay at my cousins, but I don't want to miss any of the late night shenanigans thsi time around. Where is everybody else posting up? If you are getting hotel rooms, that would be much easier.

I was thinking about the Regency hotel. It's NOTHING special, but it's the only hotel that's walking distance to the venue, and it's not terribly expensive ($50-60 I think?).

There are other hotels in town, of course, and the basketball game is in Texas, so there should be no shortage of rooms - we just want to get everyone in the same spot.

I'm thinking I may just go with the hotel room at the regency. walking distance and other late night partiers is exactly what I want! WooHoo!

Website price ("rack rate" as we called it in the industry) is $79. Maybe we can get a Dirtfoot corporate rate? :D

KB
02-08-2010, 02:32 PM
I called the Regency, and though they apparently don't give a special rate to concert goers anymore, she agreed to hook us up. I don't have any of this in writing, but she seemed to think it was no problem.

Regency Hotel (http://www.regencydowntown.com/)

She asked twice if we were in the band, and I told her no, but she said she would still give rooms to us for $49+tax/etc. each.

Tell them "Jamie said she would grant the Blue Note rate to the people coming in for Dirtfoot at Mojos".

Probably won't find a better deal within town limit, Mr. Earp.....

wOOt! already excited!

Thanks!

A bunch of us stayed there last year when they played the Blue Note and wondered why the rates were so cheap, we figured it was a nasty hole in the wall. Most of the online reviews said so, but it has been recently fixed up so no need to pay attention to the tripadvisor comments.... Its a good deal for the money.

That was easy! 1 King bed/smoking room for $49. Thats sweet. They also have 2 beds a room and non-smoking for the same price.

BOOKED!!!

WooHoo! See you all Saturday!

sounds like a blast though, i saw Monads last year with Split Lip and they were great. I believe they are opening for them again next week at Blueberry Hill

Check in at Regency is not until 3pm...

Having worked in the hotel industry for a few years: That's pretty flexible.

They state that so housekeeping has enough time to prep the room. Typically check-out is at 11am or noon so they have a few hours to get them all done. However if the hotel had empty rooms the night before, you can often check in to one of those first thing in the morning. Even if a room was occupied there are usually early morning departures that will be cleaned well in advance of 3pm. Of course if they're booked solid the night before an early arrival may not be possible. Also, the available rooms may not work with your preferences (smoking vs non, two beds vs one). When I booked my room I requested to be near the others in our "corporate rate" group....

That said - I'm thinking we'll leave St. Louis after lunch which wouldn't put us in CoMo until 3pm at the very earliest. We'll have plenty of time to get settled, hang out, get a bite of dinner, and set up recording gear....

[psyched!] :)

Hey all! With some arm twisting by Sunflower, I will be riding with her to CoMo! I had a scare with the 24 hour flu bug yesterday but I'm feeling much better this morning.

She's gotta get me back in time to work at 6 pm on Sunday so I'm wondering...

are we gonna have a Sunday morning Mini-Chomp?! AND...it'll be Valentine's Day! Couldn't think of anything better, my favorite band and my Jamily!

There will be a mini-chomp at BaconAlien HQ - Mandy is making a delicious breakfast casserole. Fruit, juice, pastries, other breakfast "sides" etc. would all be welcome.

Sounds like Dirtfoot is trying to make a hasty getaway on Sunday morning to get home to their valentines, but we'll be having breakfast/miniChomp regardless.

You see, since I failed to wake up in time for a mini-chomp last time they were in town, I had to come up with a different strategery. My plan this time was early to bed, early to rise.

So I start drinking at 4:30 in the afternoon, catch them at Sound Warehouse at 6:30, and continue drinking til I can't stand up at 9:30.

See, this was all a part of the master plan so I could wake up and cook for everybody on Saturday ;)

YOU GUYS ROCK!!!!

The Dirtfoot crew had a blast this weekend in Fayetteville and Columbia. Thanks to Pauly for the great breakfast on Saturday, hated you missed the show, but it was good seeing you at the Sound Warehouse, and we understood the Stella's had a hold of you. :-)

Very Special Thanks to all of you who made the treck in the crazy weather to catch hang with friends and Dirtfoot. The COMO show just felt so much better seeing all the familiar friendly faces. As usual, KB and Baconfairy were hands down the host/hostess with the most/mostess. Starting out with the hugs, delicious home brew & tasty grub when we walked in the door, to the mystery liquor in the jar, the tasty grub & hugs before we left and all things in between, it's truly an honor to be treated so well by all of you. You guys make it that much easier to hop in the van and take the next run, we can't wait to do it again.

Hope you guys liked the new tunes. More to come!

Thanks again everybody, hope to see you all in Tulsa/Lawrence on March 5-6.

We had a BLAST. So much fun that I got sick and had to take yesterday off. Slept most of the day.

What else can be said that hasn't been said already? I wish the 'foot got a longer set, but I'll take what I can get. I loved the new Dirtfoot tunes. They sound new, they sound different, and yet they fit into the setlist and mesh with the other tunes perfectly.

Let it be said that Sara has the temperament of a Zen monk. Some "whipper-snapper" threw a rock through her car window and took her purse whilst we slumbered Saturday night, and she remained cool as a penguin the whole time we were dealing with it. I was pretty mad (and it wasn't even my car) but Sara just said "Well, that sucks" and kept on smiling. Sara, your positivity is a light and example for others. We love you. Vandals Suck. http://www.cpjs.org/forums/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif

You are all beautiful people and wonderful guests. Can't wait to do it all over again.

I second all of this, ESPECIALLY the part about Sara. She's my hero. I would've been a basket case. A really pissed basket case.

The new songs were great!!! I can't think of one Dirtfoot song that I don't like anyway, but they manage to raise the bar every time they break out something new.

I think it's Como's turn to come to Lawrence now, March 6, babies!!
