I could be wrong, but I think unreserved RV is in the general population, not a certain spaced off area. I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong

There is a space called out on the map. It looks to be on the edge of the Main stage camping

If you go by the waterfall trail at all that would be cool to see. Not sure if you got a chance to take pics before:

Gonna head to the site in a few hours to check out the waterfall trail. Anybody want to see any pictures of anything? Site numbers? Drunken bears?

Will take responses for the next couple hours.

Careful going through Elkins! Main reason why I don't take the Pig Trail anymore.
I've been this way so many times I could drive it in my sleep. I know all about the speed limit in Elkins.

Wow. What a fantastic night! The place was so peaceful and beautiful last night. There was no moon, so you could see every single star in the sky. It seemed like you could see the other side of the universe there were so many of them. Caught a ton of catfish, too. Only drank 2 or 3 beers cause I was too busy pulling fish off til 1 AM.

I've got about 100 pictures to sort through this evening. Pretty sure I got everything on the list. I was shooting during the "golden hour" too, so I think you guys will likey :)

Here's one to wet the taste buds.

Where is the best place for me to ask the waka people to put the least amount of crap on that walls or overhangs of that beautiful stage. This space has won architectural awards and waka last year covered it in sponsors ads and plastered the bottom with some sort of covering that looked ridiculous. I get sponsor gotta get there name out. But, lets keep it classy and small. Definitely take a less is more approach please!

architecture awards? for that? what is so innovative about that stage? Its very nice, and the fact that it is a permanent structure is interesting, but the wooded paneling and overall box shape of the stage makes it seem weird to earn awards

I've been this way so many times I could drive it in my sleep. I know all about the speed limit in Elkins.

Oh, lots of people know I just like be an alarmist! I never speed through there, yet I always get pulled over for "routine traffic stops" and such. It got so bad that I knew one officer by his first name. I don't know, it's just real fishy that they do that to me and I don't even have anything on my record. The cops themselves are nice though.

Not trying to "scare" people about the pig trail, it's not that bad for anyone else I swear! :D

That stage is a lot more elaborate than it looks. There is an underground area that can only be accessed from the back that has an area for the artists to eat and hang out. It also has stairs that go up each side so that you can look down on the bands from the top. It is one of the most incredible stages I have ever been around (and I have been on a few stages in my day).

This building is amazing due to its elegance. Seriously, the stage is the best in our state, and better than a lot of stages that are with-in driving distance. We are privileged to have something like this so close to us.

The stage doesn't have to have all that ornamentation, or in architectural terms $hit, all over it for it to be amazing. This beautiful stage is complex in its simplicity. That is something i am not sure you can understand. Boom goes the dynamite!

im driving a rv for the first time to a festival. last year i was able to go on wednesday and put up my tent but thats because my roomate with a volunteer pass let me in... does anyone know what the best angle of attack would be to get my rv close to the showers and vip area? i have a unreserved rv pass and would like to get close to the edge of the woods for a little shade if possible. it was so chaotic last year and this year is going to be even more crowded id hate to end up in the dead center of the pit just because i cant run over tents. does anyone know if there will be a specified rv entrance or if i cant get there till thursday afternoon how bad id be screwed?
any advice from any other rv'ers would be greatly appreciated

So they are moving the VIP pavilion closer to the main stage this year?

Pauly is there any way you can use your clout to maybe get us trailer-type flusher potties for VIP? The porta-potties in VIP next to the pavilion were pretty much as bad as anywhere else...

Pauly's Cheese
05-06-2010, 04:56 PM
I haven't asked or been told, but I bet they will be better this year. They are improving all the port-a-$hitter/shower amenities. And since VIP is sold out, I would think they will be fully prepared.

I have some errands to run after work, but I will post some of the remaining items on the list tonight.

We climbed that gate countless times during Harvest, cause we were camped right back there...hope we get "our" spot...we have been in the same spot for two Wakarusa's and a Harvest Fest...Where it's at? got two Wakarusa's and a Harvest Fest...bottles and cans and just clap your hands...

No problem! I SOOOOOO wish I would have had time to take a shot of that gigantic Black Bear that ran across the road in front of us on the way home. Only about 10 minutes North of the festival grounds.

That was one of the coolest things I have ever seen.

Thanks so much for the photos. Driving 800 miles to a new venue with no real idea of what to expect, these pictures have been worth their weight in gold to me and my fellow Waka rookies! Thank you thank you thank you!

so the picture that says "VIP hammock area" ... do they have hammocks there during the fest? or is that just a great place to put your own hammock??

They did last year. Probably will again.

Sounds like with the hammocks and glow forest that Waka is taking some tips from Rothbury!

I don't think the hammocks will be in the same place. I know they are using some of that for VIP and volunteer camping. Don't quote me, but I would guess that all "forest" stuff will be on the way to Satellite.

I'd bring both. Better safe than sorry. Nobody knows for sure what the satellite camping area will look like in it's entirety

KB is correct on this one. The VIP hammock area will indeed be in a different location than last year. As will the VIP pavilion and catering tent. Don't ask me where because I don't know.

Sorry for the initial misinformation.
