Looking for friendly \"Waka\" types that want to meet other Waka peeps.
Share a brew and talk about waka, music, & more.

I might, but I still haven't decided. I've never seen a show at Starlight, so that'd be the main reason that I'd go. I saw about 30 shows with Houser on guitar, and I'm still not sold on GMac--but I probably should give 'em another chance.[/i]

The Waka Bus was on what amounted to Shakedown.
Solid show. Good crowd. Wookies seemed fairly behaved. All in all, it was all kinds of all right.

05/03/05 (Tue) Starlight Amphitheatre - Kansas City, MO
Set 1: Little Kin > Jack, Viper Jive, Can't Get High, May Your Glass Be Filled, Disco, Wondering > Send Your Mind, Greta > Knocking 'Round The Zoo (Starlight is by the KC Zoo)
Set 2: Chainsaw City, Surprise Valley* > Blight > You Should Be Glad > Use Me, Porch Song, Papa's Home > Arleen > Drums > Papa's Home > Big Wooly Mammoth > Chilly Water (Temp was 44 degrees at end of show), E: This Part Of Town, Postcard
Gotta love the Big Wooly>Chilly. It was so cold at the end. Starlight is a good spot though.

Rockin' good show. I danced till I was weak in the knees.
The cool temps were perfect. You could dance like crazy and not work up a lather!
Wahoo!

It was my first Panic show. I'd have to say I was fairly unimpressed. The band almost seems to inherently know the magic is gone. Talked to a bunch of people and they all said the same thing. \"This is the worst Panic show I've seen.\"

Magic gone?? I've only seen Panic 4-5 times, but I thought this show was one of the best I'd seen. Since I'm kind of a newbie so to speak with Panic I don't have that empty feeling when I hear where Mikey should be like some of the die hards might. That I can understand (Jerry!!), but I thought there was plenty of magic. George is finally starting to spread his wings a bit, JB was awesome, and I was definately Schooled..... That being said I've learned that there is a ton of different things that contribute to what is percieved to be an awsome show. These include atmosphere of the crowd, personal state of mind, and what one may or may not have ingested. None of these have anything to do with the performance really, but can definately effect the experience.
I've been to shows where I just haven't connected only to hear the tapes and be blown away. Same can be said in reverse.
Anyway, I think Panics got a lotta life left in 'em and I'm glad to see them back!! :D

Definitely an amazing show. Much much better than the last time I saw them. I really dig their new guitarist, was never a huge fan of Mikey... Also, Is that 'Viper Jive' also known as 'If You're a Viper' by Fats Waller? Saw lots of Waka kids handing out flyers, I went through a hefty stack myself.

Anyone bagging on that show should stick to Rush, and leave the Panic to the pros.

Man, the brother has an opinion so good for him. I disagree, good for me. Show was great. I've seen bad Panic shows and this was far from it. After 3 years of listening to George tapes, this is where it really needs to be and I'm glad Panic has stuck with it. I'm absolutely sick of the Panic diehards that live and die Panic but hate post-Mikey Panic. Go sit in your basement and listen to the great '97 shows and quit telling me about how great it used to be. If it's sucked for the past 3 years, then why you all still going? If it's a new person to Panic and they don't dig it, fine. I can respect that.

Guess I didn't realize their were professional music fans. Also, I wouldn't even consider myself a Rush fan, but Neil certainly was a huge reason why I started playing drums. The Panic show was by no means awful, they had some magical moments. The last concert I saw was Drive-By Truckers at the Bottleneck and Panic just looked second-rate after that.

WHAT?? I'v never seen Drive by Truckers. I've seen shows at the Bottleneck and I don't see how any show at the Bottleneck could compare to Panic on their worst night. Can anybody back this guy up? If so I gotta check out Drive By Truckers.

Well, it's not the size of the venue that matters, it's the quality of the music. Let's not forget just a few years ago Widespread Panic was playing at the Bottleneck.

The show was great. If you're hating...quit it. Mikey is gone and the band has to move on without him. George is doing a damn good job. Here are my pics from the show. Can you say atomic death drop from Schools on Chilly Water........

Saw the Drive by Truckers at Waka last year, was not impressed at all. I had heard a lot of hype about their new album and how good they are, guess I just didn't feel it that night. As for the Panic in KC, it was good, but damn Tulsa was just smokin'!
