This hillbilly gals loves herself some wild, fast, cranking bluegrass tunes! I saw The DeWayn Brothers last year at waka & was blown away. They fit the style I like perfectly. Plus they are from KS, so it's even better. I've seen them twice since then, the second was this weekend. They are even better. But, I've been listening to their new CD, Frontyard Junkyard, all day, and can barely sit still! It is great!!! Jamie Lee really gets crazy with her sing'n & danc'n! That woman has an incredible voice which really comes across on this recording. The song \"Moonshine\" is a perfect showcase of her talent. I wish I could share it with everyone!!! Another fave I have already (I've listened to it least 8 times) is \"She Lies\". You should see my feet moving to that one! Wooowheeee!!!
This is a plug for the group from a fan. Love ya guys!!!!

You're right, they are great! I saw them last November when they opened for Railroad Earth at the Granada. Great pickin', great vocals, and really nice too!
If you like yourself some wild, fast cranking bluegrass tunes, then you're gonna love Split Lip Rayfield! Have you seen them yet? Don't miss'em!

D'oh! Just saw your other post about SLR! Guess you HAVE seen'em!

Oh, yeah, I know allll about Split Lip! They are one of my faves!!! I can't wait to see them & DeWayn & all the other rockin' bluegrass playing waka! I'm really excited about RR also. My sister introduced me them a couple months ago. We had planned to go see them this summer in CO, but the plans fell through. So I was very cranked to hear that they would be playing waka! I'm going to be in hillbilly heaven :D .

We'll have to look each other up! Are you camping?

We're in general camping. Look for shirts that say Happy Brigade, that'll be us! We'll be front and center for RRE too, I'll be the one with the biggest smile--birthday Railroad Earth show!!

We need a smiling buddha emoticon!!

I'm hoping I can get some of the Railroad Earth guys to drop by our campsite and pick a little. Not sure whether they're rushing off to somewhere for more shows after their set, but I'm sure they'd love to stick around and see more of the bands. I know Timmy (fiddle player) is a big Ozomatli fan, and he sat in with New Monsoon last year at FloydFest. Maybe we'll get some more cross-pollination again here!

The DeWayn Brothers are playing this Saturday night in Newton, early at Mochas Coffee Shop and later at the Spartan. Is anybody gonna make either of these shows? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

Well poo! Timing is never right. My inlaws live in Wichita & everytime we go visit, I look for some good band I want to see. It never works out! And would we be going to visit this weekend?! Yes....not to Wichita though but to my mom's in the complete other direction. Dang!

Oh well, at least I had a BIG dose of live music this past weekend with Split Lip Rayfield in KC. And, Waka is coming!!!

I would make it up there for sure, but I'm playing a wedding in BFE Kansas that day. What time is the show? I've never been to Mocha's but I was talking bout getting us some gigs and my guitarist said that place does not draw a croud (shameless plug) Me and guitarist Sara she rocks btw you'll here more about her/us 'round here I'm sure, her voice is golden I've only just hooked up with her (played together twice) but shes got a CD out there and played a couple times on channel 5 here in doo dah. :)

Don't forget tomorrow Drew Emmit!!!

Come down in July, Wheatland Jam, a friend is trying to hook me up on the security squad (free camping and show aslong as I work all 3 days) It's no Waka, no where close, but its live music all day long for 3 days (with single day passes available)

DB playing at Mochas 8-10, then Spartan at 11. Still not the hardest working band in state history though--I saw Dead Orchestra (LOOONG time ago) open for Great White at the Coliseum, play a gig at a beer joint, the another at a liquor joint--all in one night! But I digress...I'll just hit Mochas if anything at all, really want to see them again but I have to work Sunday.

Tuesday night Drew--I'll be there!

Sunflower I thought I heard the last of Dead O, I never saw them on purpose, but I've seen them too many times. I saw them open for Limp Bizkit (I know I know, but it was a $5 show). I was getting so tired of Dead O, but I don't go to shows that dead o would play at anymore really. My friend is seeing a show in Wichita tonight and not Drew Emmit  some rock group Chasing Benjamin or something, I'm really out of the rock/radio loop I find.

Jackstraw, you left WAY too early last night!! About ten of us were sitting on the steps of the theater after the show and Nershi came out, sat with us, drinking beer and shooting the breeze. We were out there most of an hour, I'll bet. Drew came out for a while too. It was SURREAL!! You shoulda stuck around!!

I'm glad you had a good time at the show, was kinda disapointed they ended the set so early though. Last show I was at (it was WSP) they played untill midnight. Still a good show, ran into some people (wow who woulda thought out of 70 I would see someone I knew).

Probably see ya Saturday night at Mocha's?

Take care

Thanks for the info on Wheatland, Jack. I'll have to see if I can make it this year. I've got a trip to CO in July, so it may have to wait another year. I appreciate the info though!

DeWayn Brothers tonight at Davey's in KC with Loco Macheen & Mississippi Flapjack. I'd love to go, but doing a show in KC on a \"school\" night just doesn't work for me! I think I need to move so I can have all the live music I want without an hour drive  .
