I am sure this has probably been explained ad nauseum, but please one more time. What does your camp name mean? I just can't stand not getting it, lol!

My group & I plan on getting our camp flag made soon. I wanted to know what everyone uses as their flag 'pole' with the best results?

In all honesty. I would go with a light-weight flag material and try to use a regular flag pole. We used heavy canvas and the flag was so heavy we had to get metal tubing that ended up costing 70 dollars just for the pole. I mean I love the flag but hoisting it was a pain, too. The ground out there isn't very soft in regards to drilling a pole in. So I would go with a light flag and a lighter pole, that way you don't have to go in as deep. Just my .02.

Lightweight flag and use fiberglass rods (like the ones you can get in the toy dept at wal-mart with orange flags on them to put on the back of a kids bicycle). you can tape the rods together really hard with duct tape. I'm guessing that wouldn't cost much (certainly not $70!) and would be easy to penetrate the ground with because it's so small in diameter.

I've never used this technique, however... so test it before the fest to make sure my engineering ideas work as I hope.

Lol, it's no big deal at all. It's just easier to post the thread than to give two years worth of background and controversy. I think we are going to make a lighter flag this year. I really don't feel like spending an hour on top of an ice chest trying to hammer that thing back in this year.

Come on, dude! Cordless drill and 3" Core bit. I bet we know some folks that can produce these. :)

hmmmmm....sounds worth investigating for sure. I'm a complete numskull when it comes to things of a mechanically intuitive nature. Thanks for the idea!!!

Haha, Phantom! Save your cans and build a staff as the weekend progresses. (don't forget your duct tape)

A wizard and his staff (not sure why a wizard would need a helmet, but whatever).

Not sure how well these work, but it is an alternative to driving something into the ground. You just park the car on top of the base and you're set... I guess. Anyone ever used one?

I haven't used them, but have seen them used at tailgates for a few years. Work great.

Camp Domination Station would like to participate by showing off our badass flag but seem to be a little technologically challenged. How the hell to you post a pic if it doesn't have a URL?

HELP!
Anyone know the best/cheapest/easiest place to find a portable flag pole we can take from show to show?

Thanks if advance!

these are kinda spendy, but I'll bet you could self-engineer something similar:

You're contributing to the fun and creativity just by decorating your campsite - whether you made the flag yourself or not. :D
