Haven't seen too much on the subject of the disc golf course. Is it worth bringing the discs for?

there is a very nice onsite course. Well worth the space in your car.

You probably won't be able to play the whole course as there tend to be some tents and an RV in your way at certain points, but yes, I think it's worth it still. It's a nice course and discs take up very little room.

I I were you I would just save that energy for dancin' and go disc golfing another day. Or OTOH you could arrive a couple days early and enjoy activities like that.

Very short 9 hole course-most the holes (including the 5 that will be playable) are right around a nasty pond with harsh vegetation on its banks (thorns thorns thorns) and lots of snakes. 2 years ago the entire course was playable, with just a few passed out wooks around hole 9's basket. Last year 4 of the holes were completely unplayable due to RV's/tents/people. 2 of the 5 holes we DID throw were questionable, and I almost hit a few people pretty hard even being careful. With the festival only getting bigger, and the few playable holes being SUPER crowded with other large groups of golfers, I am electing to leave the discs at home this year. And this from a guy who eats sleeps and breathes disc golf. But if you DO take your discs and elect to throw-you will have fun! Just be forwarned you will need to throw with a lot of caution due to sleeping/sunbathing peeps and it will not be anything like a typical round at your local course!

Man, some seriously good advice right there. I suppose a chance exists that Waka Corporate might tighten up the course this year, perhaps bring in some Wook removal teams, but I'm not thinkin that's a priority.

Perhaps they could invite the wookie researchers to conduct a catch-and-release study? Maybe attach some ear tags to assist with identification and tracking? They'd look nice with all the ratty festival wristbands...

The course was really confusing to follow last year and some of the holes up front had a bunch of campers camping right on the green :P

LOL! ^^ that picture is awesome and perfectly shows the rage some people have when looking for frisbees.

I'm not a very serious player, I usually just play with one disc but I'll be bringing a few more just in case anybody else wants to try it. An ice cold beer or mixie + frisbee golf can be a good time. Lemme know if you want to try it out and maybe we can meet up at Chompdown and play a round after.

My husband and son play and i "play" by walking along with my drink in hand encouraging them...does that count? You would laugh till you peed if you saw me throw a frisbee.

Bet the course will be fine this year since the real addition of riverside camping! Lat year that was a last minute thing to sell more tix wasn't it? Regardless I'll be playing daily when I wake up, just like everyother year!!!!

The course was not very player friendly considering the wooks sleeping under every hole... Maybe next year???

Yeah I couldn't play at all. Some of the baskets were being used to put garbage bags on and clothes and stuff....

Most of the holes were unplayable. People were parked and camping next to pins. Trash bags were hung from pins.

A map needs to be made and included with the "handbook". The tees need markers and maybe arrow signs at the pins directing to the next tee. I really enjoyed the course the first year on the mountain but it's become unplayable. At the very least people blocking the play area need to be moved or not allowed there in the first place.

Y WAKA NO CARE ABOUT DISC GOLF?

I've always had a tough time frolfing at Waka. The course is hard to follow and some of the holes go right through campsites which make it impossible to tee off.

One the holes (in 2010 at least) went right through family camping. I didn't have to heart to tee-off on a child :P

This is going to be my first Waka and when I was looking on the map and I saw that it said "disc golf" on it I was ecstatic. But after reading some of these stories of wooks, campers, children, and holes being used as clothes lines/garbage cans I'm sorely disappoint. =(

Yeah it's really too bad, but oh well. My friend and I will at least be bringing our putters so we can have a little putting contest for drinks if we have some downtime.

Drivers are pretty much out of the question though.

This makes me sad. With the incoming weather my guess if there even was a course on the way from little rock I won't get to play. Any suggestions if the weather shifts?
