Waka.. Waka.. Waka..

What a great time this weekend... just rolled back into town this afternoon. Did anybody catch the shows at the CPJS Coffee House Stage? We stopped by on Thursday night and saw some great music by Big Metal Rooster & Speakeasy... nice suprise when I hear Green Lemon was there to finish up the night.

Saturday late night on the way back we caught Shanti Groove w/ Leftover sitting in - that blew my mind. Nice little intimate stage run by nice folks.

HERE IS THE KICKER - I was talking with a guy at the tent. He said that it wasn't a Wakarusa production. The group ponied up for the PA, stage, crew, everything but the tent basically. That's SO KICK ass to see a group of people doing something truly for us the phans!

Go support these guys - there website is: www.cpjs.org

WAKARUS STAFF - Support these guys!!! - love to see them with a full blown stage next year. If they can do that on there own what can they do with Waka behing them!!

{Peace - Erin

Wow!!! That is great to hear some response for all the hard work that was put in by all of us at the CPJS. We really had a great time providing all of the great late-night music & activities during the day. I can think back on the whole weekend with great joy. It really was one of the best times of my life and want to thank all of the kind folks I met this weekend who came out. It really is not possible at all without all of you coming out as one big group of amazing people. Thanx again...

dude, the Central Plains Jamband Society was the heart of the festival. The stage they set up was so cool, that was where the real improv JAM sessions went down, the collaborations, the special stuff, a lot of it happened right there. Three Cheers to CPJS for a job well done. You really added a ton to my Wakarusa experience.

Speakeasy; and SHanti Groove; were amazing on this stage (as were others including several great solo-acoustic artists).

I want to thank each and every one of you that stopped by to take in all the great music at the Own-Grown Stage and visit with the Central Plains Jamband Society.
You all truly made this weekend one of the best times of my entire life!

Did anyone keep track of the special guests on this stage?

It was insane. By far the most collaborations and guests of the weekend, happened here. And that is extra cool because the artists had to find a way to get 1/2 mile out to the campground, just to play on that stage with other bands.

Shanti Groove had guests from Mountain of Venus, Leftover Salmon, Tea Leaf Green, Green Lemon, and more.

Mountain of Venus also played there with tons of guests, but I missed it - anyone know who played? Members of Speakeasy, Bockman's Euphio, and more?

Glad to see everyone enjoyed this stage as much as I did. We were in Krusty so we were camped about 5 tents down from the stage. We enjoyed a lot of good sets there, especially Shanti Groove. Although one thing has been bothering, I heard a band playing from my tent and they did a really cool song but I don't know who it was. They did the Mario song and it was right on. Does anyone know who that was? I believe it was Thursday or Friday night, anyone else hear this?

How kick ass was the Meet and Greets? Saturday was ****ing awesome having Particle and Derek Trucks Band at the same time eating and signing autographs.

My hats off to Joy Jacobs from CPJS for putting those together. It must have been a blast for her to ride around on a golf cart picking up and dropping off the bands. She got a bit sunburned in the process.

CPJS kicks ass and proved they are #1...

That last post was from my brother. He did not realize that he was logged in on my username on my computer! I am really not that ****y :)

I had a blast working with the bands. It was so cool to see how backstage operates. I had so much fun riding around on a golf cart all day picking up the bands and dropping them off.

It was awesome to feed Particle and DTB and see the bands interact with each other. Thank you to everyone who came to the stage and supported us. I can't even tell all of you how much it meant to me and our staff.

We started CPJS in the summer of 2001 and it was just this tiny organiziation that has grown so much and thanks to Wakarusa we are getting to that point that we all have envisioned and dreamed of going.

I can't wait until next year to do it all over again.

Another band notorious for video game covers is Estradasphere (http://www.estradasphere.com). They've done 15 minute long Super Mario 1 and 2 medleys, the music from Zelda 1 and 2, and even Contra! If you do a search for Estradasphere on archive.org you can find lots of great audio/video recordings. It would be really incredible if these guys played at Wakarusa.
