Where to get Good Canned Beer?

We just can't imagine a festival without Newcastle. I have called around to lots of beer stores in Chicago (Binnys, Sams, etc) and can't find any canned beer other than the english pub ales (guiness, boddingtons, ect) and the domestic commercials.

Saw someone mention cans of Newcastle...where do you get them? In Illinois. or anywhere between Chicago and Waka?

I really don't want to break the no glass rule because it's for a good reason and I don't want to poor trash collectors to have to haul away our glass, but I don't want to drink crappy beer all weekend either....

any advice?

Lucas Liquors on Manchester in St. Louis (on your way from Chi to Waka) had Newcastle in cans. I bought the last case they had a week ago. The guy thought they might be getting some more in but mentioned something about a dock strike preventing New Castle being shipped? You might give them a ring.

thank you but we are not going thru St. Louis...taking the northern route through des moines...88 to 80 most of the way......

anyone know beer stores in Iowa?

crazy isn't it you think in a big city like Chicago you could get anything any time...there was a better beer selection in my home town of Pittsburgh! more beer, less people....

When you get to Lawrence there are really nice liquor stores here called Cork and Barrel. I am sure you'll be able to get some good canned beer there. There's one right on Clinton Parkway by the HyVee that would be easy to get to...

WELL, you'd have to pull off of 80 and go through Pella. Our Conoco on the east side of town sells Guinness in Cans. That's it for the good beer though.....

all the rest is in glass.

I'm packing up on good beer as well,. I can always try and get you some in Pella and get it to you at waka.............

I've noticed in KC that most stores sell canned Heiniken, Guini, and the like. If you consider that good beer. I was at the store today and did not see any Newscastle though.
