Anyone up for a game or two of ultimate? Let's get some replies going so we can plan a spot to get a game going.

I'm thinking my asthma might kick in if it is hot and humid out there, but I would be down for a game. Even though the shape I am in now is more suited for disc golf haha.

What's the difference btw reg frizbee and ultimate? I have a giant, padded frizbee i like to call \"ultimate\", but it may not be the same thing.

i guess the easiest way to describe it is frisbee, football, and soccer in a blender. it will challenge your cardiovascular shape but it is definately fun and is best played under...shall we say, relaxed conditions.

Quick overview:
Two teams, one frisbee. Game is played on a field about the size of a soccer/football field.
When your team has the disc, you are on offense. The goal is to advance down the field by tossing the disc from player to player. Once you catch the disc you have to stop moving - in order to advance again you must pass to a teammate.
If your team drops the disc or throws a pass which is intercepted, the other team takes over on offense.
A score is made by catching the disc in the opponents endzone.
The sport involves LOTS of running! That's why I play disc golf

I would definitely be down to play some ultimate, but you need a good amount of room to play. Are there some open spaces where people don't camp? I could just picture myself over pursuing a throw into a group of campers - don't want to spill anyone's beer! I'll bring my frisbie regardless.[/quote]

I'm not that good at throwing but I can run fast and catch it. Can I play forward or is it not like that? I've played a little, but I totally suck at tossing the bee in a game of ultimate.

when your team has the bee then you are on offense (either throwing or attemping to receive) and when the other team has the bee you are on defense . It's constantly changing back and forth. I'm not to familar with all of the particulars, but i don't think there are actual positions. watch PCU for a quick refresher course!

yea, it plays like soccer or hockey, or basketball

Yeah, but in those sports you have an actual position like forward, wing, center, etc. I don't think you do in ultimate. Please someone correct me if i'm wrong.

i think positions depends mostly on how competitive it is...pick up games it doesn't really matter but if your playin in an Ultimate Players Association game, i think some teams take it serious enough to have postions. i know that many have different plays...but i think rec games are more fun.
