I know I wasnt the only one at Little Feat, Sunday night. They ripped the roof off the place. If someone out there can help a brother out and let me know I am not crazy I would appricate it. If you cant I understand, there was alot of cooling off going on at that time Sunday.

Peace

Hey Madison~I was there too! Just for less than an hour though....but it was killer! I had to leave around 7 to get my fill of Donna the Buffalo. That was another incredible show!!! Nothing so hard like being torn in two :( .

Peartmoon, on the way home, i told my friends how much i wished i had gone over to the campground stage for mofro and greyhounds. Can't get too much of those guys. Did they do some sittin in with each other?

It was kind of surprising, but there were no sit-ins. The guys from MOFRO did watch all of the Greyhounds set off to the side of the stage though. The guitarist was making faces and joking with them throughout the set. Here's a little bit more detailed account of MOFRO.

We then rushed down to the stage for MOFRO. I met up with Joy again and we got in the front row along the guardrail. Holy God was this the highlight of the festival!! The band and crowd were just feeding off one another. During \"Air\" JJ even stopped singing the words because the entire crowd was shouting them at the top of their lungs. Needless to say, a huge smile adorned his face. The whole tent was just bristling with energy. Becky even climbed on someone's shoulders and started going absolutely ballistic. Then the band went into \"Florida\" and I knew what was coming...pretty much a musical orgasm. JJ picked up the microphone, stood up, adopted a pissed off face, and then sung with penetrating firebreathing intensity I have yet to witness any singer (sans Chris Robinson) even approach. I mean, honestly I'm not scared to admit I was damn misty-eyed. They closed things out with the alarmingly soulful \"Lochloosa\" where JJ sorrowfully sings about how the Florida wilderness is being torn to shreds by developers \"All we now is one more golf course, another country club, another gated community.\" You can't help feel for the guy. He's losing the beautiful land he cherishes. It'll turn you into an environmentally-conscious person in no time.As he often does, he slowed things down and told stories within the song. He just said how beautiful of an event this was. The crowd eruped at the end of the set. It actually killed my ears and was by far the loudest ovation of the weekend. A helluva lot louder than Wilco, The Mule....everyone. The band actually came out for an encore which is very rare for a festival gig. That Sunday set was one of the highlights of my concert-going life.

Damn Tink, we should have connected. Thats ok, it'll happen next year. I dont think your to far from OKC, if your comming this way shoot me an email.

Peart, all I can as far as your experience, wish I was there. Sounds like my training wasnt as far along as I had thought. That KS was kickin my ass, didnt see any music after 1:00am anynight. Always went back to camp to relax and drink home brews and eat BBQ. That sun was right on me all weekend, and not be a puss or anything but night time was rest time for us. Next year we will be better prepared.

Glad everyone so far has returned and keep in touch.

Madison...that Little Feat set was incredible. I'd only seen them once before like 10 years ago and really enjoyed it.
I was the one laying on a blanket in the back of the VIP section....hopefully didn't make it look like I wasn't enjoying it, I defintely was. Just couldn't exert any more energy at that point!!

Hey Fozzie,

Were any of them at the Warner Theater in DC? When they came back they did a couple 5 and 7 day runs. I was a youngin then late teens and early 20's but some of the best shows I've ever seen. Caught them with the Dead in 88 in ME on the fourth of July I think, long time ago. I hope they are back next year, and if all goes well I'll be in VIP right next to you.

Couldn't imagine a better or more fitting description of that show. I must have been right by you, cuz when birthday girl Becky got up on her friends shoulders her butt was right in my wifes face, and I was standing right behind her. Then towards the end my wife was in the front row at the rail and I was just behind her, one guy in front of me and to my left who was with a group of friends. Talked to him and shared some strawberry shine with him and I think another of his group. It was his first time seeing Mofro and loved them.

My husband Eric & I were on the rail up front too. He was the one with the misty mate coolin' everyone off. :D

My unique experience: I was standing there groovin to Lochlossa pretty much sober when I realized I had tears running down my face. I am usually not a very emotional person and wasn't sure if I was crying because I was sad about the song lyrics or happy because it was so moving.

Either way that set was one of my musical highlights of the fest.

Thu: ALO

Fri: A ton of great sets, Gourds, Son Volt, Martin Sexton, but the best was Calexico's set in the Revival tent. There was only about 100-200 people there since everyone else was watching SCI. Calexico was amazing. If you missed 'em, you missed out.

Sat: HBRSB, and Split Lip Rayfield were good, but I think Neko Case and Wilco were the 2 bright spots on that day.

Sun: Matisyahu

There were a ton of great sets throughout the fest, but these were the highlights for me.

This is actually what bands I got to see while at Waka. I feel like I didn't take full advantage of the amount of bands that were there...however, the heat, beer, & extra-curricular activity really wore me out. Out of all the bands I saw, I would go see these guys again for sure:

Lotus
Green Lemon
Jazz Mandolin
Karl Denson

Thursday -

Lotus
Green Lemon
Eckobase

Friday -

ALO
Shanti Groove
John Brown's Body
Sctring Cheese Incident

Saturday -

New Monsoon
Jazz Mandolin Project
Karl Denson's Tiny Universe
Wilco
String Cheese Incident

Yeah, like I said, I was damn close to tears and one of my good friends was crying as well. I'm still thinking about that performance! Also, I was jamming out against the rail on the right hand side of the stage a few feet to the right of the girl on her friend's shoulders. I was wearing a blue henley shirt. I also stuck around for The Greyhounds and stood in the exact same place against the guardrail. Maybe you saw me?

There was a taper there and he has said that the show will be available shortly. keep your eyes peeled. I bought the real image recording, and I've listened to it probably 8 times already, and man it still sends chills down my spine.

right on, I'd love to hear that again. I too had been psyched to see those guys and that Fri late night set totally blew me away. Was it me, or was that the HIGHEST enery set anyone saw all day Friday? Perhaps everyone was hammered, but people were going nuts. I thought they were totally killing it, I had such a good time. Best set of the fest for me too.

JBB at the Campground Stage was awesome. My first time seeing them, I only have one studio album, and I was really impressed. But than again, most of the bands I never saw really impressed me too.

There are so many inspirational performances this weekend for me it is so hard to limit it. But my top favorite performance that left a mark in my mind are the following.

Thursday

Hairy Apes BMX-Campground Stage

Umphrey's McGee-Revival Tent

Bockmans/Speakeasy-Chipotle/CPJS/Darkhorse Stage Late Night

Friday

North Mississippi Allstars-Sun Down Stage (KICK ASS!!!)

Mountain of Venus-Chipotle/CPJS/Darkhorse Stage Late Night

Grooveatron-Chipotle/CPJS/Darkhorse Stage Late Night.

(During a two-hour jam leading out of ?MacBeth? a number of the festival?s performers joined the Groovatron onstage before seguing into a cover of Frank Zappa?s ?Joe?s Garage.? Performers participating in the round robin jam included Umphrey?s McGee?s Kris Myers, Perpetual Groove?s Brock Butler and String Cheese Incident?s Michael Travis, who performed on both percussion and bass. Members of Tea Leaf Green, Moonshine Still, The Station, Speakeasy, Shanti Groove, Mountains of Venus and Steel Train also filtered onstage throughout the evening)

Saturday

Risky Shift Phenomenon-Chipotle/CPJS/Darkhorse Stage

Govt Mule-Sun Up Stage

Mountain of Venus-Chipotle/CPJS/Darkhorse Stage Late Night Jam.

(This was the highlight of the weekend for me. MOV had several guest sit in through the three hour jam. Members of Speakeasy, Bockman's Eckobase, Moonshine Still, Perpetual Groove, Micheal Travis from String Cheese Incident, and Stanton Moore from Galactic. Stanton sat in for \"Why don't we do it in the road?\" by The Beatles with MOV's drummer String Ray on vocals and \"What is and what should never be\" by Led Zepplin.\" with Tonya on vocals.

That performance changed my life! With the sunrising and all this going on I felt something powerful in the air. I have worked with CPJS from the beginning stages four years ago when we first started the idea. We all volunteer our time to make our music communites stronger. I finally felt like all my hard work that I have contributed to CPJS had paid off watching all these local, regional, and national acts come together and unite as one. It brought tears of joy to my eyes.

Sunday

Shady Deal-Chipotle/CPJS/Darkhorse Stage

Chipotle All-Star Jam-Chipotle/CPJS/Darkhorse Stage

Galactic-Sun Down Stage

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our stage at some point through out the weekend to see the music. There was truely something phenomonal and powerful in the air at our stage. Thanks again to all the artist that played, artist's from the Wakarusa line up, volunteers, and the kick ass CPJS/Darkhorse TEAM that put effortless hours of work since November to make it enjoyable for your pleasure.
