Oh my yes!! These guys do intense music, the lyrics are amazing, they're fast and really really good. I've been seeing their shows since i heard them at the first Salmonfest and still can't get enough. They get under my skin and in my bones and blow off my head!

A lot of ppl were enjoying them, cuz that was the loudest crowd of the entire festival. Yes it was the last show Sunday night, but a crowd clearly stayed just to hear Split Lip. They might have brought in some day-pass locals too, cuz their hardcore fanbase was going nuts that night in the Revival Tent. I thought it was awesome, not sure if I was more blown away by the band or by their fans dancing up a storm and hootin and hollerin.

I sure hope Split Lip proved that they deserved a good late night slot on one of the big stages this year. That would definitely be one way to get more people from Kansas out to the festival.

I've seen SLR 4 times in the past year & each time was great. That's one group I doubt I'll ever get tired of. So much energy & incredible music! The Sunday night show at Waka was unbelievable! I didn't expect that many people to be there since it was Sunday, but WOW! I didn't stop dancing for a minute! I was so tired by that time, but how can you stand still to SLR??? It ain't possible!

Count me as another SLR fan. It is about time these boys get their due.
How about all us SLR fans make a push to nominate Split Lip as the 'Host Band\" for this year's Waka? Let 'em play all 4 days/nites including a headliner mainstage set to boot...

Hey, those guys are incredible, its good to see them back this year. Bein from around these woods ive seen them probably 20 times and they never get old. The fit great in a festival like this which is plesantly packed with some great blue grass music this year. The Jeff and Vida band is great too! Vida has a voice you have to hear to believe. Truckstop Honeymoon is great too. They are all favorites at the Walnut Valley Bluegrass Festival held in Winfield every year...great to see them twice!

I would second that but know that it is a practical impossibility since they are scheduled to play the Telluride Bluegrass Festival on I believe Thursday of Friday (not really sure which day but am assuming early in the fest). We probably won't see anything of Split Lip until Saturday.

I saw SLR in Springfield, MO about a month ago and never saw them live before. My friend introduced me to them by their CD and demanded that I go to the show since he seen them before. Ohhh Boyy that saw knocked the pants right off my legs. SLR is one of my Favs for this festival, for sure.

Split Lip is one of my all-time faves. They are so much fun! I just ran across a couple sites that have good info about the band. Take a look!
~~~Enjoy~~~
Also, they'll be in Columbia, MO this Saturday, March 12th, and Davey's Uptown in KC May 14th. Then....WAKAWAKAWAKA!!!
Split Lip Rayfield is probably my most favorite band I have ever set ear to. I have always listened to an array of music, but once I got a taste of SLR, I haven't been able to really enjoy anything else quite as much! I am in Love! I've seen them a handful (or two) of times, and simply can't get enough! I love 'em all, Kirk, Wayne, Jeff, and of course the King of Lawrence. It only adds to the love that they are Kansas homegrown!
I LUV those guys! I missed them last night in Wichita, but caught them a couple of months ago at John Barleycorn. I can't wait to see them at Waka! They're gonna have to be damn tired though :shock: --don't they play Telluride the day before? It's at least a 15 hour drive in my car, not loaded down with equipment. Aw hell, they can play 90% asleep and still blow the doors off of most other bands!
Dang, Raw.....I was going to go tonight, but decided not to. I went to the bluegrass thing at KU....DeWayn Brothers were great! Did you go? I soooo wanted to see SLR tonight but I was worn out & had a horrible headache, so I came home. I may go see them next weekend at Davey's in KC. Hope you had fun! Don't tell me how great they were though....I'll cry :cry:
Just got back from Larrytown to see the boys - that was my 3rd time seeing them and it was such a great time! I haven't seen the Bottleneck that full in a long time.....excellent crowd!! I didn't know they were playing in KC next weekend, Davey's is a small venue so I'm sure the crowd will be great again. Hope to see some of you there!
Hey Rachel~ Glad you enjoyed it! I'm still struggling with my decision not to go. Such a silly girl :? I figured the place would be packed tonight! I saw them at there last fall & it was wall-to-wall people. I thought with it being the end of the school year, it would be an even bigger crowd. I haven't seen them at Davey's before, but it should be a great time. I love the intimacy of that bar. Everyone I've seen there gets into the crowd too. Pretty cool.
Maybe we should see how many waka-ites will be at Davey's Saturday & have a little meet 'n greet before the show. I'm going to waka solo this year, so it would be nice to know a few faces in the crowd. What do y'all think?
Oh, and I looooove a banjo! Not as much as a mandolin though :D .
