I'll be homebound for a while since I'm rebuilding a house, working and planning a wedding, but I'll be hitting Austin City Limits on my honeymoon in September.
I'll probably also hit the Great Unknown Festival in October, www.greatunknownfestival.com, since it's close to home, although; that is the same weekend as the King Biscuit so I'm still undecided at this point. I gotta get my blues in!
I'm also looking at the Mag Fest www.magmusic.com/magnolia.htm just so I can meet up w/ Just Bob and his crazy-assed cousin! Great folks! Hey Kinderkitti, this might be a good one to cash in some miles for~
Anyone going to these and want to hook up, let me know.
Peace
Rob

Can't do Austin and Magfest both with it being during the school year. Plus magfest's thursday is parent teacher conferences. I would loooove to do magfest next year though!

I'll be going to a litte fest in fort smith arkansas in august (just several hundred people) whose lineup is Michael Burks, Cate Brothers, John Hiatt, Anthony Gomes, Oreo Blue, Betty Lavette and Bobby Blue Bland. This fest is free. www.riverfrontbluesfest.org Also will be hitting sunflower river blues and gospel fest in clarksdale, MS. in August. www.sunflowerfest.org
And then probably King Biscuit blues fest in helena, ARkansas. www.kingbiscuitfest.org All three fests already have their lineups posted.

www.magmusic.com <----if you didn't notice the other link on that page, Springfest is run by the same people, in the same park. March 24-27 in 05.
Donna the Buffalo plays it every year also. They also get lucky and have had Bela Fleck & The Flecktones most times. Bela also did a bluegrass lesson at last springs.
I also must apologies for the price, they keep going up evey year and I don't understand it. Its stated at $65 and had most of the same bands. Now they are starting at $100.
On the good side its not commercial at all. Very home grown, with lots of good music loving people. So many trees in the area, you almost never have to be in the hot FL sun. The amphitheater so cool, with great tall trees providing lost of good shade.
www.riverwalkbluesfestival.com <---- I like blues so I'm looking into this one. November 19-21. Buddy Guy and Tishamingo(friends of mine) are both going to be there.
I'm going to make a banner so I'm easy to find at the fest from now on. I wish I would have found kitti and Rob sooner at Waka, very cool people.

I'm hitting an awesome festival called Rockygrass in Lyons, Colorado. bluegrass.com It is done by the same people that do folks fest and telluride bluegrass (which i had to give up for wakarusa). I really like those guys at planet bluegrass. I would love love love love to do austin city limits fest, but unfortunately it falls on the same weekend as winfield, and i just can't miss a year. It is one of my favorite fests in the world, and i can't gamble with a non camping fest like austin city limits. If anyone else is having this delima tell me what you guys are doing!
Peace,
Jess
PS.. wakarusa rocked!

They've got a kick ass guitar camp at Telluride as well. I'd really like to go, but I'll be in Austin. Maybe next year....
Anyone going on that jam cruise?? How sweet would that be? I really need to work that one out if I can. www.jamcruise.com

Randell will be on Jamcruise. He got married on it last year.
Another one I don't think I could afford. If I didn't got to all the other concerts and fests in the year I would be there. I just bought tickets to The Allman Brothers in ATL, Spet 24th. woohoo!!!
Bob
Yea, we got married on the first Jamcruise and HOPE to get there for our first anniversary. It is a VERY expensive event but was the perfect place to get married as we were going to get married on a cruise anyway to avoid the big wedding thing. Something about being on a boat all alone in the Atlantic with good peeps and NO security (except slightly getting on and off the boat)... Not to mention the great lineup that played 24 hrs a day and the close interaction with the musicians. We're still paying off the wedding and last years cruise and have to sacrifice going to more than one or two other fests that we love to make ? but hey love isn?t cheap.
Bob - have a great time at the Allman's. Oh, and there will be a pre-cruise party in Jax the night before the boat leaves (Jan. 5th). The line-up isn't up yet but will be a BIG party so I hope to see ya there.
Randall <---------- Hopes to cruise again
It will be soon time to get off the bus and on the boat!

I could make the party, Jax is not far. Now if I can only come up with money to get on the boat.

Thinking about hitting up Smilefest (Union Grove, NC). Also going to Bele Chere in Asheville, NC July 23-25. It will be a weekend long steet festival. Stockholm Syndrome, De La Soul (old school memories), Mofro, Larr Keel, Big Head Todd, Mystic Vibrations, a few others are going to tear it up. And it's free!

Pyramid Party 2
I put some picture up from my weekend at the Pyramid and this is my post from hip forums.
This is the second party held at the pyramid. They seem to be much more then a party, but not a fest. Party/Fest? It was Saturday, July 3rd in Cairo, GA, just north of Tallahassee, FL.
Bands:The Ums, Mars Retrieval Unit(M.R.U.), Polyester Pimp Strap, an All Star Jam(people from all the bands), Shafty, & Soular System
http://f2.pg.briefcase.yahoo.com/ayeolsucks
It was all love and fun. No cops. Lots to drink, smoke and other stuff. Mellow hippies/jamfans having a great time. Can we say MUSIC!!! Some of the best music you can fit onto a stage. All the bands played for free. Sound and lights were volunteered(equipment and labor). Pot luck food turned out great. Camped in the woods under tall trees.
One of the best times I have ever had.
Rob S. and Chelsey are moving to Portland. They put on the parties and live in the Pyramid. Rob plays guitar, bands like Shafty & Glass. Chelsey plays sax, and was a hugh part of Xingu. I'm sure they will be in and around the music as soon as they get to town. They are also amazing musicians, and very kind people. Tallahassees loss and Portlands gain. If you live in or around Portland and happen to meet them, be sure to welcome them.
I know I speak for North FL and South GA when I say they will be missed.
much love

Hey now! Wakarusa ppl need to not miss
The Great Unknown (http://www.greatunknownfestival.com)
in Northwest Arkansas in October
This fest seems to be about the same thing Wakarusa is about, except on a smaller scale. Things like the best quality up-and-coming bands, guest appearances, late-night shows, surprise stages and jam sessions in the campgrounds, and generally letting loose and having a good time w/ live music. They're still TBA on the line-up, but if it's anything sweet as last 2 years I attended (Umphrey's McGee, Garaj Mahal, Jeff Sipes, etc.) then it will be awe-some!

If anyone is going to Great Unknown, make sure someone tapes Jacob Fred!!!
http://jfjosetlist.blogspot.com
A Setlist archive for JFJO if anyone is interested.
Unfortunately i cannot make it to any more festivals except for Acoustic Planet in August. that's more of a show than a festival though and it's indoors at the Hotbox(aka ARAGON ballroom)
anyone going to catch any Acoustic Planet shows?
