We're gonna have a few days to kill after bonnaroo en route to Wakarusa and we were wondering what Lawrence might have to offer in the way of entertainment and hotels. Any local bands playing tuesday or wednesday night that we shouldn't miss?

Lawrence is awesome. Downtown, Mass street, are bars, food brewery bands. Just find Mass and walk down it . You are sure to get into some trouble there!

I'm really glad that some folks will be getting to Larrytown early and hanging out for a while. It's always nice when even More freaks invade town. Here are a few spots you will probably want to know about.
Free State Brewery, near 7th and Mass, good beer and food, hippy heaven.
The Merc., natural food co-op, located at 9th and Iowa.
Jenson's Liquor store, tiny place, but good beer and you can mix six packs. 9th and Indiana.
Liberty Hall, 7th and Mass, Independant films shown and you can drink oatmeal stout in the theater, also Bela is Monday!
Mass. Street Music, a good music shop, 15th and Mass.
The Love Garden, very cool record/cd store, 10th and Mass.
India Palace, yummy Indian food w/ daily buffett, 10th st., in between Mass. and New Hampshire.
There are plenty of good parks, South Park (13th and Mass), Train Park (6th and Kentucky), Burchem Park (4th and Indiana, by the River).
There are also tons of cool Shops and Resturants along Mass. St., too many to mention.
The Campus is nice to walk around, and from 9th to 18th along Tenn. and Kent. (one-ways) are where most of the local Freaks live. It's also a nice area to stroll through.
There is a lot of stuff to see and do, and a lot of nice folks. If I can think of some more specifics i'll post them here.
Always Peace,
Mike in Lawrence

another cool place to stop and hang out is the Pipe Ranch located on the side of Free State Glass around 9th and Rhode Island (or ask any local head, they will gladly direct you) they hand blow custom glass for you, sometimes right in front of you if they aren't that busy.. they will also talk to you about blowing and answer any questions about glass.. real cool guys there, especially Ian 8)
Kimockfreak said a whole lot of them, just wanted to toss that in, as it's a really cool experiance to see
BTW, if you want to get some disk golf practice in before Waka, theres a really nice 18 hole course located (real close to The Merc., natural food co-op, located at 9th and Iowa. that kimockfreak mentioned) @ 9th and Rockledege, which is I believe just 1 street west of Iowa. The course pretty much runs from 6th street to 9th street off rockledge.
all this talk about mass street, I might have to go take a little stroll down there, I wonder if liberty hall box office is open now to get my Bela ticket.. we'll see :)

Free State Glass will also fix your broken glass items, if you clean them up pretty good. They were a lifesaver when my 1 1/2 ft'er got knocked over and partially broken. You should also try the pocket-za's @ Rudy's Pizza on Mass St, or Papa Keno's, if you want so thin pizza \"as big as your face,\" the Dusty Bookshelf is a great used bookstore, Liberty hall always has good artsy and indie movies, plus you can buy Free State beer to drink during the movie on Tuesday the movies are 2 for 1. Quintons has really awesome sandwiches and the Love Garden has a good selection of vinyl and CD's. Lawrence, esp. Mass St is really great. Plus, if you are in Lawrence, you should reallt see our beautiful campus.
