Just curious. . . is there a consensus that Bonnaroo is just too much nowadays?
I heard that Superfly sold their rights to Bonnaroo to Clear Channel Media (the one that shut down Howard Stern). Can anyone confirm?
I also heard that MTV was there. Please God shoot me if that is true.

IMHO - It's too much. I'd choose about a dozen smaller fests before I'd go to the Roo. Just my two pennies.

Frist off no MTV was not there. 2nd BOnnaroo is not too much. I spent 130 this year to go on tickets and it was well worth it. IF tickets get nay higher then 160 i think it will begin to be to much. I Have been three years in a row and been to a bunch of smaller ones, and Bonnaroo is always the best. I think you have to like how big it is too, alot of people i talk to don't like it becaus eit is soo huge. Basically it was well worth the money this year and i plan to go agian if tickets to get raised too much more.

Yep it is a bit to much. Would much rather go to smaller festivals.... more intimate and much less crazy energy.

I just don't see the draw of standing there with 100,000 other people watching a concert. I had a blast taking my camping chair and sitting out in the grass at Wakarusa and just chilling out. I don't need to stand in a mud pit with 100K other people to have fun.

Thank heavens MTV wasn't there. Bonnaroo 2002 and 2003 were a blast, but the line up for 2004 just didn't do it for me. I sort of regret not going just because it was sort of a tradition for my boyfriend and I, but I think Wakarusa was a great change. I saved a lot of money and met the sweetest people.

i thought it was way to big, bad energy, and i am not agaisnt drugs, but too many drugs. I would rather go to cleaner, smaller festivals, where i can see the stages. there is no point in seeing the dead if you can't actually see them. check out other smaller festivals for sure. I have a couple of other posts concerning bonnaroo throughout this forum. nothing agaisnt those that love it, i just was miserable despite my best efforts to be positive.
Peace

I went to Bonnaroo in 2002. It was fun as hell but it had so many negatives. The 9 hour wait to get in sucked! The camping was too crowded, the toliets were gross as hell, the water stank and I had to walk forever to get to the show. I don't have anything against catchin a little buzz here and there but it was the first time I heard people peddling heroin, pcp, coke, I was a little freaked by that. All in all the bands were great but I need a real shower on a 3 day camping trip in the middle of summer.
Wakarusa was great, showers were wonderful, good music, not too far from home, police didn't hassle us too bad and prices were good. I'll see ya at Wakarusa next year.
