hey there!

I wasn't able to make the trip down from Philadelphia this year and am really bummed about missing Mindy Smith. Did anyone pick up a cdr of her set while they were there? I have some other live Mindy stuff to trade if somebody can help me out.

thanks,

Mindy Smith was fantastic at the festival, first act I saw. I didn't get the live CD though. I need to pick up one of her albums.

Yeah, I'm seriously addicted to her.

She's only got one album out (officially), which is why I'm falling all over myself looking for quality live recordings. Since you at least had your foot in the door down there @ Wakarusa, maybe you've got some better contacts than I do. Try to find that tape! I'll make it worth your while.

You can get her album \"One Moment More\" at most big cd shops, or through her website <http://www.mindysmith.net> . It's one of those albums that you can pop in the player, hit repeat/play, and listen to 4 or 5 times in a row. It's really that good.

I'm on the lookout, but I don't know anyone who taped Mindy Smith. She was early the first day and some tapers weren't set up. I think her management declined to release the official live recording, cuz I don't see it on http://www.disclogic.com/

I remembered that she closed with \"Come To Jesus\" and went the F* off on it. It was awesome, and was the first moment I realized the Revival Tent was going to be such a powerful congregational experience. What I mean is, a room full of people all feelin' it at the same time.

Yeah, her management is real squirrelly about taping. She is too kinda'. I suspect there's a live album in the works, but that's just a rumor.

I know Wakarusa taped her from the soundboard and sold some cdr's after the show, as did Bonnaroo. I just need to find somebody who bought one. They're (Vanguard) not going to \"officially\" release anything they can't control 100% of. Hopefully now that I've stated that publicly they'll contradict me, but I wouldn't bet on it.

Come to Jesus gave me chills at the end. That girl has some pipes on her. Yeah, you couldn't buy her recording there.

We're working on getting the release for Disc Logic to begin selling her set, but perhaps those who are interested in it could help nudge it along by dropping an email to Mindy and crew...

thats too bad she didnt realease it :(

a few other good bands did that. I tried to get the sound tribe set.. from either day.. and the guy working the booth told me they weren't releasing it because of an upcoming album (and also probably because of the new live sts9 downloading site, which wasnt out yet, but is now)

I was like.. damn ,that sucks. I really wanted to buy it... then the guy went off on me how it DIDNT suck because he was the road manager for sts9 and kept talkin, I stopped paying attention there...

went home and downloaded it for FREE off www.archive.org and now Ive got the friday evening set (which is incredible) for free. I tried to pay 10 bucks, but they wouldnt let me... yet all their shows are avaliable, with permission from sts9, to be hosted on archive...

kinda weird if ya ask me... oh well, I tried to support them.

kinda off track, but my point is, Does this Mindy person allow her stuff to be hosted on archive.org? if so, you can probably get it there... but it sounds like shes one of those artists who doesnt need her music spread around the community like all the other great artists who do allow their shows to be hosted.

good luck on gettin it... I missed her set at Waka (actually, Ive never even heard of her :? ) kinda wish I had seen it now, you guys are talking very highly of her

edit- yup just took a look and she's not hosted on archive.. but just for the hell of it, here are the sts9 shows if anyone else loves them as much as me, and was dissapointed in not being able to buy the shows :)

late night thurs set- http://www.archive.org/audio/etree-details-db.php?id=15887

evening fri set- http://www.archive.org/audio/etree-details-db.php?id=15926 (you can stream this one if you dont want to download it...)

I tried DLing the thursday show, but the file format is \"flac\" and not \"shn\" so I couldnt convert it on the computer I was using.. so I dont know how that show sounds, but the Fri show sounds awesome!

I always try and burn a couple extra to hand out to people.. thats the whole point of archive :D

Matter of fact they were selling Mindy Smiths performance last year, I picked up a copy, first show I saw. Couldn't get my hands on DBT, Derek T B, or N M Allstars. You can find STS9 late night set at archive.org, not bad sound quality, DTB is on there too, sound quality could be better but it is available.

Yeah, Mindy did a sweet little version of Dolly Partons Jolene last year,
dm & Dgold I can get you a copy of Mindy's performance if ya like.

STS9's early evening set is also available on the archive, or an SBD copy can be purchased at http://www.sts9music.com as well.

I would love a copy of that performance too. I couldn't find a copy anywhere.

On a side note...her version of Jolene is so much better than The White Stripes horrible rip of it...

I've got Mindy's live cd from last summer but I don't have the set list. If someone has the set list from last year I would appreciate it greatly if you could pass it my way.
