Thursday, July 29th- String Cheese Incident, Uptown Theather; KC, MO
Thursday, August 5th- Green Lemon, The Bottleneck; Lawrence, KS
Friday, August 13th- Acoustic Planet Tour featuring Keller Williams, Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, and Yonder Mountain String Band, The City Market; Kansas City, MO
Wednesday, August 18th- Garaj Mahal- The Bottleneck; Lawrence, KS
Wednesday, September 8th- Umphrey's McGee (don't miss it ;) ) - TBA (most likely The Granada, but still not announced); Lawrence, KS
Wednesday, September 15th- David Grisman Quintet- Liberty Hall; Lawrence, KS
Saturday, September 25th- Split Lip Rayfield- The Bottleneck; Lawrence, KS
Saturday, September 25th- Sound Tribe Sector 9- The Grenada; Lawrence, KS (not announced formally, according to TeamB)
And last (but not least) Sound Tribe Sector 9 was supposed to play in Lawrence tomorrow, July 28th, but the show has been cancelled due to the cancellation of Lollapalooza... too bad, but according to the guy at the Granada when I tried to purchase my ticket, he said they should be coming around mid to late September. Not confirmed, just what I was told.
Any shows I missed?
can't wait to see SCI again, last time I saw them was at Red Rocks last Sept.

Umphreak,
See you Thursday at SCI...
There ususally is a pretty good parking lot scene across the street (north) from the Uptown...
Also, Crabs on Broadway, located nearby, serves up some tasty seafood treats and icy cold adult beverages and is a good place to chill pre-show.
Enjoy the show!

I won't be at the SCI show in KC but I will be seeing them on Friday in Omaha. I'll also probably go to the Acoustic Planet tour, assuming it hasn't sold out yet...
You left out Hairy Apes, who are playing at The Brick on August 4th..anyone know if that is a bar? I'm not 21 yet so if it is I probably can't go.
The Bottleneck sounds like a bar..are the shows there 21+? How about the Grenada? That STS9 show is 2 days before my 21st birthday and its on a Saturday, that would be kind of annoying to miss out on.

Good News/Bad News
First the Bad...Both Bottleneck and Granada are 21+ bars.
Now the Good...Both clubs sometimes offer \"All Ages\" shows. Perhaps one/both will happen for you

Great news David, thank you!! I'm going to try and head out to Tulsa with some friends to catch sts9 in late August.. its on a saturday.. can't wait for that one.. gotta get my sector fix :D
as for the age limits... like Mitch said, they are bars, but I think most shows are over 18.. I think the age thing usually comes into play depending on how late a show runs. I could be wrong there, but I've heard that talked about before..
ok I just looked, heres the website for the bottleneck
http://www.pipelineproductions.com/live/bottleneck.asp
green lemon- all ages
garaj mahal looks to be 21+ (big metal rooster are opening for them it looks like, nice)
you can see the rest there
heres the granada http://www.thegranada.com/
most of their shows look to be 18+ so you should be fine for sts9 :) (and umphrey's mcgee ;) )
BTW, I've never heard of The Brick, is that in Kansas City?
Missouri Mitch

Yep, the Brick is a KCMO 21+ bar. Have not been for awhile, but it is a good place to hear/see live music.
I know Split Lip plays Lawrence 9/25...Have also heard they plan a Kansas City show but have not heard when/where.
Another good upcoming gig is the Jerry Garcia Stomp at Davey's Uptown in KC on Aug. 7th. DeWayne Brother's and a couple other bands are on tap. If you have not been to Davey's for a show...GO! You can get up close and personal with the band.
Off to the Uptown and SCI...If they wow me enough, I just may head up
I-29 to Omaha tomorrow nite.

just got back, about to head to bed... but I bet you're about to head up to Omaha  that show was awesome.. who would have thought a second encore with Taj Mahal?!?

Yeah, you right Umphreak!...On the road to Omaha in a few hours.
SCI first set was especially blistering.
The Taj appearance was a real treat. \"She Caught The Katy\" was one of the first songs I learned to play on the guitar...way back when!

Taj was so awesome. After the three song encore I was like alright that's it and headed to the bathroom. Approximately 30 seconds later I walked back out and heard the roar of the crowd. I ran right back in and saw the man himself strumming the opening notes to She Caught the Katy. Definitely the highlight of the show. (although the whole thing was spectacular)
7/29/2004 Uptown Theatre - Kansas City, MO
Set 1: Outside Inside > Betray the Dark, Who Am I?, Up the Canyon, Close Your Eyes, Little Hands > Jam > Dudley's Kitchen
Set 2: Lost > Jam > Pirates, Trail of Tears, Desert Dawn, Quinn the Eskimo, Rivertrance, Black Clouds
Encore: Parker's Blues, Texas Town, I Wish
Encore 2: She Caught the Katy¹
¹ with Taj Mahal

Well damn...looks like a bunch of cool bands decided \"hey, this kid is getting really close to turning 21, lets hurry up and have as many shows as we can without him!\". Nah its not that bad...oh well..as soon as Sept. 27th gets here I never have to worry about it again. I don't even drink, but I sure look forward to being able to not worrying about age restrictions at shows.
If any of you see a short-haired kid with tan cordoroys and a blue Buckethead shirt on, feel free to stop and say hi!

That's what they have told me...unless STS9 decides to change it for some reason you can more or less count on this info.

Hey Now!!... Shake is back in action and ready to melt some faces. We will be out at Free State Glass (307 E. 9th St.) in Lawrence on Friday, August 20th. We still have the same name, but trust me when I say we are not quite the same band. We have really worked hard to improve and tighten up our sound. Come see for yourself my friends. On a side note, I know several of you will be going to Coventry the week before, so if you can save a little of yourself for this show, you won't be sorry. 'Til then...

hi all.
Bryan here.
I'll be at acoustic planet tour at the city market
I'm goign there with my bro Nathan and his lady
who just tried out for the American Idol in STL
i'm taking my friend Mark as well.
we were all at Wakarusa and had a great time.
City Market is not far from where I work part-time,
downtown; we used to have full moon drum circles there
maybe you know of it; Infinite Sun
Anyway, see you there and hope to see you dancing.

Bryan,
Is your brother the Nathan that manages Danny's Bar & Grill? He's also from Memphis and plays with Grand Fiasco?
