I'm game...
from wikipedia
Many bears of northern regions are assumed to hibernate in the winter. While many bear species do go into a physiological state called hibernation or winter sleep, it is not true hibernation. In true hibernators, body temperatures drop to near ambient and heart rate slows drastically, but they periodically rouse themselves to urinate or defecate and eat from stored food. The body temperature of bears, on the other hand, drops only a few degrees from normal and heart rate slows slightly. They do not wake normally during 'hibernation' therefore do not eat, drink, urinate or defecate the entire period. Recycling urine is quite a physiological feat. Higher body heat and being easily roused may be adaptations because female bears bear cubs during this winter sleep.

On the topic of bears...
I saw \"Grizzly Man\" over the weekend.
If you have not caught this documentary it is truly fascinating.
It was on TBS over last weekend a couple times and is at the video store, I highly recommend it.

i have also recycled urine!!
Did you do this because you lost a bet, for health reasons, or spiritual/recreational reasons? I remember reading about how drinking your own urine (but NOT anybody else's) is supposed to be good for you. Also, the active ingredients in amanita muscaria, a type of psychotropic mushroom (not the usual psychedelic kind most people are familiar with) can be recycled. Siberian shamans have been known to drink the urine of reindeer that have been eating amanita muscaria, which is red and white (like santa claus) and grows at the base of pine trees. People have theorized that maybe this is part of the origin of some Chistmas customs...for some more info check out one of Tool's old newsletters here: http://www.toolband.com/news/letter/2000_12.php

Grizzly Man, ah yes, Grizzly Man. I too saw this movie this week and I thought it was completely amazing. BUT! That guy was completely out of his gourd. The animals are beautiful and all but they can kill you in a split second. Thanks to the guy that brought us that great footage but he was an idiot. You could see the mental deterioration with the progression of the movie. I believe he hurt the animals more than helped. It is not our place to mess with mother nature, we need to let it do it's thing and help keep our own people from interfering with it.
