Will the bike rickshaw folks be back this year? They were great last year. I had so much respect for them, pedaling folks about in that heat. Hope to see them again.

Yes I would love to see them there again this year. Does anybody know if they will be back? I don't remember where they were from. Were they Kansans or imported for the fest?

I know a friend of the folks that ran the rickshaw operation the last two years, and rumour has it that Wakarusa has decided NOT to have them back.
You might want to let Team B know directly if you think the rickshaw is a valuable asset to the festival.
The Rickshaw folks are based out of Arizona; they have to plan ahead to attend.

If that's true I wonder why? If cost was a factor than it should have been factored into the slightly elevated ticket prices...

I think the rickshaw folks had to PAY Wakarusa for the privledge of vending. They work for tips, you know.

Last year was the first time at Waka, However I have been to many other shows. I really liked having the rickshaw people there. It would seemthat if they were there both yearsthey are part of the show. Besides the service provided for weary Waka walkers, they were fun and helpful folks. Willing to tote you a bag of ice or jug of water from a distance for you. In the heat last year just peddling around would be chore enough, but to haul people was truly a feat. Riding the big hill with a load of passengers was an arduous task. I found myself admiring their stamina. The fact that they worked for tips, was more than reasonable. I for one was happy to contribute to their cause, and they certainly earned it. One would think that they would be invited back again. Let's bring them back this year, For the betterment of the festival.

Yea - they saved our asses a couple of times. Plus they're fun. I gave one guy an extra big tip if he rode the two of us up the big hill. I told the guy that I really wanted him to pick up a ton of speed on the way down the hill in order to make it up without to much trouble. That guy pumped those pedals as fast as he could and we zapped down that hill so fast and wobbly that my wife left fingernail marks in my hands.

Man, these folks were a godsend. And from what I saw, they wouldn't even accept payment from cute chicks. Perhaps bad business, but good for us ladies. But like I said, a godsend.

Man, I really hope they are back to pedal my drunk ass around. Just in case they are not, I hope that many of you have your own or get your own as I will gladly provide my business.

To pedel up that hill on a regular bike is a task in itself. To pedal that big heavy bike with 2 people in the back is unbelievable.
Hats off to the bike rickshaw guys. And yes, they were very cool, one bike rickshaw guy stopped by our camp for a beer after he was done with his shift and he was cool.
