My contract with Alltel ends right before Wakarusa and I am ready to change service. I was just wondering who got service at Wakarusa last year, and who do you have? I was analog the whole time and couldn't hold onto a call. I get a good signal in Lawrence though, it was just out at the festy that I had problems.
Obviously Wakarusa service isn't the only reason I'm ditching Alltel, but it sure would be nice to be able to contact people that I'm trying to find there.
Any thoughts?

I got service the whole weekend last year through Cingular... Funny thing though, after my contract *which ends June 4th--right before Waka too!* I'm switching to Alltel, haha. Just because when I go back to visit family in Western KS, my phone doesn't work at all, but Alltel works there.

I had Tmobile and the coverage was spotty but it did work at times, mostly at the main stage area. At camp it didn't always get a signal or if it did, I had to point myself one direction or another to avoid cutting off.
I have heard good things about Verizon always getting a signal, even in fairly remote places, but some of that is just hearsay.

I have Cingular and didn't seem to have much problem getting signal out there.

I have t-mobile also ... it did ok ... depending on where you were at ... just keep in mind that there are 15000 people in that small area ... lots of them trying to make calls at the same time ... the connections are spotty on a good day

I had Verizon at the times of Waka I & II
I got fair to middlin reception out at the park with a few instances each of bad connections & missed calls that never even rang
however my TEXT messages worked 100% of the time
& interestingly, I may soon sign up with alltel because they seem to have the best coverage and signal strength in NE Oklahoma

My Cingular worked great year one on Analog, and the new phone(also Cingular) with quad band worked fine last year.

My Cingular phone worked great plus they have the roll over plans that give you a little added value. There are not very many places that I have had problems as long as I was near a large town or on a major highway.

Hmmm--lots of ideas. I was leaning toward Cingular anyway.
Alltel is okay but I didn't get nearly the service I was told that I would. I have friends who live outside of Sterling who use Alltel with no problems but my phone was utterly useless out there.

I had two phones last year...a cingular and a nextel (one personal, one work). Both worked well all weekend. The nextel worked all weekend without fail, but the cingular had moments where it wouldn't even display bars. With the crowds, it's really hit or miss. If it doesn't work one minute, wait and try again. Usually they will function if you give them a minute.
