Sup everyone, I'm David Sockrider, I guess I'm the artist who won this year's poster design contest. Here's the final poster for 2006 for all to see.

When I was thinking of concepts for this years poster I kept thinking of the great vibe and great time I had last year.

When I think of Wakarusa, I thought of the music, the water, the land, the night and the day, so I decided to combine those elements into an image. I decided to create a somewhat playful and magical image of the 'spirit of good vibes' levitating above the water. I wanted her to appear happy and content and 'good vibes' radiating from her head, reigning over the night and day. I've read that Wakarusa means, \"River of big weeds\" or \"waist deep\" so I included the cattails to represent the meaning of the word Wakarusa. The festival is all about fun and music in the day and night, so I included day on one side with the sun and night on the right with a full moon. June 11 is a full moon so I made the moon full. Last year, I was camped under the only tree in the VIP area. That tree is represented on the horizon in the poster.

Here's my poster from last year:

I can barely wait for the festival. Have a great Wakarusa!!!

I love your poster from last year! I've got a copy that I still haven't gotten around to getting framed, and I bought my little brother the t-shirt that was made from it...and I'm still kicking myself for not keeping it.

:D

I'm a web designer full time.

I've been trying to do more show posters for quite a while. I just do posters on the side for fun. I like being able imagine something then have the abillity to place that on paper.

I create lots of visual design... draw, paint, illustrate, advertising, web sites, Flash, 3d, video/audio editing. I just really dig creating graphics for fun and work.

dunno about poster availability beyond what street teams get.

David what's up bro! Dennen here in Austin. Congrats on winning the poster contest FOR THE SECOND YEAR IN A ROW! I know you have been talking with Rick a bit, but shoot me an e-mail @ dkontour@sbcglobal.net or call me on my cell @ 512-557-3136.

Eric (from Phx), Jason (from Vegas), and myself are all doing VIP again this year (and yes...we will be the very 1st to arrive again!) so we want to hook up/camp with you again.

Hope you have had a very successful year and I look forward to hearing from you!

WAKA! WAKA! [/u]
