I'm assuming String Cheese will get two nights, and Umphrey's is listed for two nights on www.jambase.com, but out of the rest, who do you guys think deserves double billings. My votes in for Jazz Mandolin, but I could watch STS9 all weekend. Any thoughts?

short answer: ALL! (can you ever hear enough of any of these bands?)

with a little more thought and realism:

i think cheese would be nice for two nights, especially so if keller is added.
galactic should play late night once and during the day/evening another time.
i would love to see tea leaf green play more than one set. i am really getting into these guys lately.
also STS9 i think would be cool to give two sets like i described for galactic. maybe one at sunset and one at sunrise?

peace,
sitdancer

Count on Karl Denson for a late night show and evening show. His late night shows at Tipitina's in N.O. are awesome with the band playing until the sun comes up. Pollstar lists him at Waka on two dates along with UM and JMP, so it's a good bet all three will be playing late night shows. Can't agree more about Galactic. Their late night last year was great.

Last year a lot of the bands played more then once. This mad it easy to catch all the bands you wanted to see.

Thats from last year.

so the open air stages are generally done at about midnight? and why was there only one of them on sunday? can't quite agree on it being easy to catch all the bands. i mean, those that play twice i want to see twice, too

just curious...

ps: drums and tuba is a fun band. saw them in chicago a couple of years ago. i guess that counts as my first ever jam band experience (they played with bullfrog from toronto, anybody know them? also very cool)

12 to 1 they would shut down. The tent would be going all night and the CPJS stage in the camp grounds would be going late as well.

I don't know if it will all be the same this year.

If there's any band I want to see more than once it's STS9, even more so than SCI... I'm a secta'9 girl through and through

I'm hoping for doubles from KDTU and galactic. And if Robert Randolph gets added, a triple play would rock.

So how accurate is jambase. They already have a schedule for Thurs. nite, although that day has not officially be released. I admit I was expecting it.

And Gwar, meatstick? Too much blood to clean up!

MB-you are so twisted! Aside from the fact your screen name is after the most SiNiStEr  character on the Simpsons, you are nice enough to let everyone see the wonderful theatrics that Gwar has to offer!

Being from OK, I would like to let my fellow Okies know that this wonderful :?: band is going to be in Tulsa this week, but I send my regrets that I will not be there!-SJ

I think Gwar is a little too prop heavy for my taste. I went to see Phish at the Bomb Factory in Dallas back in 1994 and Gwar was playing in the venue next door. Both shows let out at the same time. I remember being WAY out there when we met this group of folks from the Gwar show that had gotten covered in slime, it REALLY cracked us up. I guess Trey had invited them to come over and jam and they basically declined. I remember right before that Gwar was listed as one of Phish's biggest influenced in the then Phish Newsletter (this was before the Doniac Schvice) of course everything in that newsletter was tongue-in-cheek.

It may not be totally correct, but if you put in lawrence on pollstar, several bands are listed for more than one day of the fest.

that phish show at the bomb factory.. wasnt that the show with the 70 minute tweezer.... they threw 2 or 3 minutes of a gwar cover in. i didnt know that gwar was playing nearby.

Yep that is the show. I don't remember them jamming on any Gwar, of course I would not recognize a Gwar cover since I never listened to that band. Are you sure that 2 or 3 minute cover was not Cannonball by the Breeders, that was the off the wall cover I remember. It seems like there was a \"Purple Rain\", \"Sweet Emotion\", \"Sparks\" and a \"Walk Away\" in that set and I think they opened the set with \"Loving Cup\" all covers in addition to the Cannonball which was not fully covered just jammed into with a feeble attempt at the lyrics obviously VERY impromptu. It was one SMOKIN show in a VERY strange venue, the place was an old Bomb Factory I guess, it was like a big warehouse inside.

yeah thats an amazing show. i used to have a copy of \"astral intercourse\". 3 songs from that show. it had about 10 or 11 different parts for the tweezer and one of them was titled gwar.. ive never had the inclination to listen to gwar so i assumed it was a cover. anyways. killer show.
