2006 was not at all like the previous years....
Maybe it is just me but I found it a bit dissappointing....
1) I noticed that most of the bands this year were jam bands, that or someone we had all heard of already...unlike last year when John Butler and Xavier Rudd played...that was cool because they were from entirely different continents, their own music genre....they stood out from the rest.....and I guess that's what i am looking for at Wakarusa.
2) Where'd all the vendors go? The campground stages used to be really fun, but this year there were like, a few vendors, some nasty food joints, and the tents....no places to sit, nothing going on....it just felt too weird, too commercialized, too uptight and not laidback...
3) Cops were everywhere, and yes, security is understandable, but when a person is trying to have a good time and drink a beer and they have two cops parked behind them, it ruins the whole atmosphere. Marijuana is illegal, but it is also peaceful and it tis everywhere, no one will ever stop it...and it is annoying having to dodge more cops than fellow Wakarusians....I've never heard of pot being a problem at Wakarusa...which leads into...
4) No glass....cool, safe rule, but making all of the vendors shut down cause of pipes? Pipes aren't illegal....once again, annoying.
5) I saw several times, people who were simply intoxicated and trying to have a good time accused of taking acid and x....
I found it quite hard to have fun...
