Every year for Wakarusa, I mix up a tasty beverage I called Kryptonite, BUT is now label by my friends as WAKAJUICE.

It's basically like a margarita shot:

1-Lots of goooood Anejo Tequila (last year was Patron...this year Don Julio)
2-Fresh lime juice
3-Grand Marnier
4-A float of Captain Morgan

Even if you don't like tequila, 90% of the people who try it and claim to hate tequila end up LOVING it. It's a nice shot of love on a hot Summer day, or perhaps an after dinner aperatif! Not too strong, sweet, and tasty! My camp of 8 people and some passing-thorugh aquaintences went through 2 quarts of it in one day.

This year, I'm making a gallon....hope it lasts all week-end.

Come find me for a shot or three!

Not busting balls, but aperitif is a pre dinner drink.

Saying that, I'll have two please!!

Quality Point! Blended whiskey is the devil's jism. Yech.

I have not tried the Woodford Reserve. Will look into to it. Thanks for the advice.

Knob or Maker's? Sometimes, friends, there isn't a wrong choice.

Sometimes Wild Turkey 101 gets me insane. Not the highest quality stuff, but good for an ass whoopin. I don't typically get into that anymore and it isn't a festy drink for me as them is sum long daze and nights.

I like...I like...If there's any WakaJuice leftover Vern, I will chug a shot - it sounds scrumptious!

Here is a recipe for my own personal \"Waka-Juice\" which I bet NOBODY has tasted before.

2 parts PREMIUM Kentucky Bourbon (please no JD!)
1-1.5 parts Redcliff Liqueur (to taste)
ICE

If you have not tasted Redcliff (http://redcliffusa.com/) you should do it. It's the ultimate Bourbon mixer with a little exotic flair.

Can't remember the exact recipe, but my friends made this stuff called Yaka (kind of like Waka I guess which is why it made me think of it). It's basically lots of vodka, lime juice, sugar, and ice. You mix it all in one of those big Gatorade deals (like the one poured on Lovie Smith after his big victory), drink it, and have a good time.

It tastes so good but is so strong, obviously with basically all vodka. Anyway, I'll try to get the exact recipe, because it's definitely worth trying and I may start bringing this stuff to festivals from now on.

\"Sounds like everyone here could make their OWN version WAKAJUICE...straight sjot or mixed!!!!!!!!

Cup. Ice cubes. Several splashes of bourbon. Coke.

I don't get to fancy. My palate isn't into the sweet stuff so much. However, on a hot day, I've had similar concoctions as sagenspirits recipe (minus the sugar). Goodness. Good times.

Beyond music I am a caver and in our circles (Ohio Valley) we have a drink called \"Wapatully\". I guess in this instance it could be called \"Wakatully\". Quantity and quality is variable by drinkers. Depending on how drunk you want to be, mix up the ratios.

Ingredients
sliced oranges
drink cherries
Vodka
OJ
alot of ice

Equipment
1 gal container w/ tight fitting lid
medium-small towel

The idea is to place all the ingredients in a 1 gal container and wrap the container with the towel. Now if you don't put a **** ton of vodka in and have a fair amount of OJ, you can pass this container around the group and everyone shakes the container for 2 minutes. You repeat this step several times and what you'll end up with, in this case with these ingredients, is a screwdriver icey with fruit chunks in it.

As long as there isn't too much alcohol added, when it's shook, the same sort of concept happens as when you make homemade ice cream: the contents are constantly agitated and the formation of ice within the container occurs and you change the state of the OJ.

You can ammend this concept to any drink: Electric Koolaid, Margetittas, etc. and come out with the same result. The quantity of alcohol is the variable here and how well you keep it wrapped so the cool air is trapped around the container and there is no warm Waka air warming your container up.

Long recipe short, this is how to make your drink into a slushy w/o a blender.

Try it!

Da Rum Punch

8)

We bring a big colorful plastic pitcher to mix this Belizian delight up; amounts are approximate:

1 quart belizian coconut rum
1 quart dark rum (Myers works)
1 pop-can sized mango nectar
1 pop-can sized guava nectar (available in the latin food section of the grocery)
1 large can pineapple juice
1 jar santa cruz orange mango juice
Grenadine
The juice of one lime

Mix well, pour over ice. Sit in shade and enjoy.

Warning--consume with food lest you not be able to stand or dance later.

While I agree to a point with Salmon that the Bourbon is the greatest invention since......well no, it's the greatest invention, I have to agree with KB. I am a fan of the blended as well. If all you are going to do is throw a splash of 7up or something on it, what the hell difference does it make (sans the hangover which you were going to drink yourself into anyway). Now if you place ice in a glass, pour a brown nectar into it, and enjoy it, it better be bourbon. Otherwise just drink whatever the hell you want. Mojitos and Mint Juleps all around.

Man it is interesting to see how much things are the same no matter where you are. Slight variations, but the concept is the same. I have had some wild drunks on this stuff.

I've also had the delight of drinking a version with moonshine, a grape cool aid packet, OJ and ice. I think that's probly a strictly Kentucky variant. 8)

People mock me cause I like mixing my Bourbon with Dew. But did you know Mountain Dew was originally CREATED as a mixer for Kentucky Bourbon?

And I don't care if it seems like perverting a good bourbon by mixing it. A better bourbon makes a better mixed drink in my O.

Still, I loves me some straight bourbon, on the rocks, whatever...its all good

Peachtini (started as a martini sized drink, but we've since made it into pint or ginormous tub sized)

3 parts peach vodka (I prefer stoli has more peach flavor)
1 part peach schnapps
2 parts OJ ( I prefer light oj less sweet)
1 part cranberry juice (again light cran)
Splash diet 7UP

Mix and serve over ice. Very cool and refreshing.. However be warned, it is potent! I was mixing them at our campground this last summer before a concert at the Gorge in WA... and umm three of my friends didn't make it to the show.

Did you ever get the feeling what you were doing was somehow immoral and reprehensible?
The idea visited me upon occasion. A lyric by The Damned sometimes came to mind: ?I?m on the side of the angels, but the Devil?s my best friend.? But I never really believed it. I?ve always considered booze as something kind and pure. I felt more like a paladin than a force of evil. If people think alcohol is evil, they should visit the Middle East and see how prohibition is working out over there.

You managed to find time to give a rather notorious speech at the Colorado Statehouse.
Ron Tupa, an enlightened state representative from Boulder, had an idea about lowering the drinking age to 18. It was right after the Boulder Booze Riots. The kids wanted booze and he meant to give it to them. He enlisted me to give a speech about how Prohibition had failed 50 years before and why it would fail again.

Did you set them straight?
Oh, hell no. I stayed up all night in a red-wine frenzy, hammering the speech together, then stopped at a bar on the way. I have a hard time getting in front a crowd sober. Things got out of hand. I meant to sound like the sonorous voice of reason, but, according to a friend who?d tagged along, I came off like Mussolini on acid.

Well, since you are here...

Since when did you start adding E&J to Mt. Dew? I remember quite a few game days when we drank it straight out the bottle. The E&J that is. Oddly enough, I remember few of those nights.

In a pinch, Dew works although Squirt works better although nowhere hardly sells the stuff in this part of the world. That's why I stick with the Bourbon or Rum because that's how I traverse.

I'm sorry do I know you? No, I was just agreeing with the folks above about the merit of MD in your various spirits. I also wanted to add the Erk and Jerk to the list, as I don't know many of these concoctions, but when mixing the river hooch (as it is wont to be called) E&J is the only dark liquor allowed. So perhaps there should be some Waka Hooch that could include a certain $8 bottle of Brandy.

That and a Salmon is a fish that don't swim straight.

Boggy M: when I was in highschool we participated in an activity we called the Jimmy Dew circle. Before a party 4 to 6 of us would chase drinks off a Beam bottle with sips of Mountain Dew. The rule was the bottle could only stop moving around the circle if someone was drinking out of it. Last man standing after everyone had backed out got to keep the rest of the whiskey; which wasn't that great a prize because afterwords you'd really had all the Jim Beam you'd wanted.
