Wakarusa Music Festival 2007/Sonicbids Combo Package
Fee: $14.95
Package includes an automatic submission and a 3-month Sonicbids subscription.

^the automatic submission, is that automatic for the band to play. Iam not a member of the band, i told them i would help them out.

If these guys make it I hope they draw a late night set. I would definitely go. They remind me of Hawkwind.

It would be cool if it were that easy. The submission just goes to the land of Waka submissions with the hundreds (thousands?) they receive each year. You have to remember that Waka is in it's 4th year now and has grown to be a successful and respectable festival. One of their hardest jobs is turning down the majority of the bands that apply.....many of them quite talented. I don't envy their job when it comes to weeding through that many bands, securing the talent and gridding out the schedules.

Wait....that sounds like my dream job. I do envy them...just not the turning away bands part....

They pay the bands right???

I assume the majority, but not all get paid. Regardless, I'm sure they are comped tickets to the fest.

This festival is on a pretty big scale, not 'Roo by any means but they don't aspire to be. Anyhoo...many bands, not just from the states, are willing to come and play in front of potentially 15K people per day.

I'm simply a Waka veteran who's helped with promotions from the start and have a strong background in live booking. For more concrete info on this fest and their booking policies I'd suggest you use the contact form on the Wakarusa home page...

Most do not know that Lemmy of Motorhead was a member of Hawkwind before starting that band. Hawkwind actually has a song called Motorhead and you can hear Lemmy singing on it. (I hope this board has some tolerance for drifting off topic.) :)

ah, they dont care what we say here ... topic? what topic? :D

i think the dude (roger dean ?) did most of the artwork for the band ...
lyrics of guess what ......

Sunrise wrong side of another day
Sky-high and six thousand miles away
Don't know how long I've been awake
Wound up in an amazing state
Can't get enough,
and you know it's the righteous stuff
Goes up like prices at Christmas
Motorhead
You can call me
Motorhead, alright
Brained out total amnesia
Get some mental anaesthesia
Don't move, I'll shut the door and kill the lights
If I can be wrong, I must be right
All good clean fun, have another stick of gum
Man you're looking better already,
Motorhead
Remember me now
Motorhead, alright
Fourth day, five day marathon
We're moving like a parallelogram
Don't move, the morning's not a pretty sight
I guess I'll see you all on the ice
I should be tired, and all I am is wired
I ain't felt this good for an hour
Motorhead, remember me now
Motorhead.....

Re Nektar: I was the only guy I knew that had the \"Remember the Future\" album. I was thrilled to find that on the internet. Did you listen to Bleaker Street out of Little Rock? (Clear Station KAAY) That's where I got exposed to a lot of weird music back in the early 70's.

I found Remember the Future in my downloading adventures. I haven't looked for the CD. I can remember the names Camel, Gentle Giant and PFM, but never had the music in my collection, so I don't remember it much. I think I saw Gentle Giant on Don Kirshner' Rock Concert once. If you want the mp3's of RtF, pm me and we'll figure something out.

Hanging with hippies? I may not look like one anymore...but this brings to mind a story. I was on a Greyhound once back in my long-locked days, and behind me a shorter-haired fellow (who was just joshing--he meant no offense) made a comment regarding how there \"ain't many hippies around here.\" I looked over my shoulder and he was smiling at me. I said, \"Well, as long as I'm around there'll be at least one.\"

Sounds like a plan re the nektar music Ron. I could burn you some other stuff too. I'll look forward to seeing you in June, and since it looks like I'm getting near to 30 posts, I'll be more active on this board. We're excited about Waka '07. I've been lurking since before Waka last year.
