Is the course set up the same? I loved it a lot more last year than two years ago.

Anyone find my green Flick on the hill with the tall grass facing Shakedown St.?

:? :?:

although right now the course is considered permanent and as of yet, is essentially unchanged since last year.

word has it something different (and special!) may be in the works for this years courses.

work will start soon and i'll try to give everyone an idea how it will be and probably try to throw up some pictures if no one beats me to it.

I was wondering if anyone knew how to get in contact with the people who were selling discs last year? I bought a couple and I love both of them, but I want some more in case I lose the ones I have.
Thanks

Although I do understand the general concept of disc golf, I have never played. If I wanted to play at waka should I buy my own discs or are there plenty to go around?

I wouldn't count on strangers letting you use thier discs. Their almost certainly will be discs for sale near the course entrance. You could also pick a disc or two up before the festival. Most discs are in the $10-$15 range. Here are the discs that other folks recommend.

If you have a local sporting goods store, chances are they carry discs. The store in my hometown actually carries used discs as well. You should be able to get away with entry level discs for no more than 8$ each, and you really only need a couple of them. If you're looking to spend less than that, try to find a store that carries used discs.

As for which discs to get, my favorite starters are the Innova eagle and spider. The eagle is a good entry-level driver. It's beginner friendly. The spider will do everything from mid-range to putting very well.

The Kansas City Flying Disc Club was selling discs at the beginning of the course last year.

I believe they were instrumental in getting the course originally started out at the park. I would assume they'll be there, involved again this year, but I can't say for sure.

Check out Sun King Disc Sports.
www.sunkingdiscs.com Mike's a great leader for our sport and Sun King also vended/ran a one round tourney at Langerado the last three years!

We flew into KC last year and played WATERWORKS PARK. One of the sweetest disc golf courses I've ever played(135!). If you get a chance before the fest or even Monday check out this park. Probably locals around all the time for pick up games or kickdown disc.

Looking forward to a few course changes at my June home course (waka backyard)!!!!!!!

I am an avid disc golf player, but I have never played the \"course\" at Wakarusa. It always struck me as a place to lose discs. Please let me know if I am wrong, I have several disc golf playing buddies going to the show and I would love to play a round if it is not half bad.

Lost disc, eh??? There were two 9-hole courses at Waka last summer..... funny thing was some people didn't even know there was a second course (in the woods).

The course on the hill did snag a disc or two throughout the weekend, the grass was fairly tall. It goes with the territory............no matter where you play a discs can always become lost. Write your name and telephone number with a black sharpie and believe in good disc karma.

It was amazing to see so many people tossing last year, every morning!! There will be discs for sale on site again.

Look out for signs announcing a random draw doubles Saturday morning.

John is one of the sickest disc golf artists....
http://www.johnnotenboom.nl/

.........his site may not contain all the work he's done, but there is a few.

Hopefully the special Waka stamp disc will be on something Discraft. They make the best discs.....check out the Buzzz. (best mid-range disc) If you've played before then you're ready for the Surge. (incredible driver, long range)

Check out Discraft next time you fly.

The course last year was cool, but if u played on a windy day, like i did, you lose discs in the 2 foot high grass.
that would be cool if they did it somewhere new, (mabye by the lake) or just cut the grass a lot lower. I cant wait tho! waka waka waka
