Well, due to confusing plans with my friends, I could not make the show tonight. There is a good chance I would have been turned away even if I would have driven down to the Landing.

I figured I might as well start a topic about your thoughts on the show AFTER it went down. There is plenty of pre-hype...I just really want to know how it went.

But you'll all be jamming for like 5 more hours. ugghhh.

Anway...the show...what did you think of it?

Simply amazing! The lunar eclipse triggered a magical night! Hands down the best show I've been to in a while--The music stopped around 4 a.m. and I think everyone (including the bands) were stoked about how intense the show was! I'm gonna need a few days to recover....

It was pretty wild, Abes was packed. I was suprised with how many people turned up i didnt realize Bassnectar was so popular. The entire landing was pimped out with Art, Blacklights, and some crazy **** outside (by the river). Lots of dancers and a huge video screen. I think 16 dollars for a ticket was cheap for all the effort that was put into this event, i bet it costs them a fortune to run an event like that...very impressed.

With EOTO (i was really impressed with EOTO i had to buy their cd) playing until 1am or so (i think their set started a little short due to technical difficulties but oh well, they were sick) and Bassnectar threw it down once again. What a suprise...He played a few new ones and it was a great to hear those, although i cant stand rap, MC Souleye was a talented dude. Great great show. Def top 3 this year so far. I had the best seat in the house (dancin on the rock all night lol) and could see everything. Thats too bad you missed EOTO but Bassnectar will be back soon at Wakarusa.

The only thing that sucked was all the weak ass policies of Abe and Jakes. Water was 3 dollars a bottle, and the staff literally pryed a cup of water from my friend who was going to the sink for a refill. Other than that, a great vibe i though. The band was definitely enjoying themselves as well, and to see EOTO and Bassnectar together towards the end, and the encore was the highlight for me.

WOW  Do they sell alcohol at this place or not? If not, then I can see how that could happen. If so, that's unacceptable.

Hey, I just want to thanks everyone that went to the show at Abe and Jakes saturday night. Bassnectar tore the roof of the joint saturday night with a first time ever collaboration between Bassnectar/Souleye/EOTO. That was off the hook. If you missed it ....well you really missed it. I will have some pictures up in a little bit, but just wanted to take the time out to thank all those that worked to make this one of the best nights in the history of my 10 years with Cicada!!! Johnny, you really knocked the ball out of the park ...CONGRATS!!!

On a future note, next Sunday marks Cicada's first non-dj excursion which will spotlight the talents of On the One. If you have not heard of One The One it features John Staten (KDTU) and Jesse Molloy (Giant People) for this very intimate preformance Charlie Hitch**** (Particle, Hydra) will join them. This will truly be an exploration into the soul of FUNK. So head on out the the Jackpot for a special $7 performance which will be talked about for the months to come.

Once again...thanks to everyone who attended saturday night. Thanks to Abe and Jakes staff for a very professional job preformed by Emily and Staff alike. Thanks to the street team for working your asses off to get those feet through the door. And a big SHOUT to Lorin and Mario for the amazing preformances. And of course, John for bringing the music back to the masses!!! It is a pleasure and an honor to work for you, as well as call you friend.

Here's to 10 more years!!!!

Peace and Groove to all,
brer, the other Jon

I was really impressed with the stuff EOTO put out, very high energy, dance your ass off kinda stuff I like. I was dancing on one of the rocks all night too, made for a great view of the stage.

At one point Michael Travis came up and started talking to me, but I swear it was all just a mumble, something about all the rocks and someone falling in the water, I couldn't quite make it out. I think I was in shock, great experience though.

I figured that I'd wait a few days before I replied, just to make sure I knew how I felt about the show. It was my first time at Abe and Jake's, and although it's a pretty ****in' cool place, I don't think that the PA will ever be loud enough with those high ceilings. I like my music loud, and it wasn't anywhere near loud enough for me. It was the first time that I'd seen EOTO, and I really, really liked them. I don't like SCI at all but I like Zilla, so I figured that I'd like EOTO, and I did. I could've done without MC Souleye, though. And when Bassnectar came on, I quickly realized that I don't like to watch DJ's. He didn't really do anything for me, and I was bored within a half an hour. Overall I had a good time, and I definitely want to see EOTO more in the future.
