View Full Version : No Sun Up Stage?

What's up? Is there only one main stage this year? Last 2 years there have been two main stages.......

Nope, just the one and the revival tent.

It does make for some extra walking between shows for sure, but it will help with any sound bleed that happened last year. I know STS9 bled into Bela Fleck last year on Sunday. At the same time, those are two of my favorite bands so it was nice to shoot between them since they were so close.

Also no Voodoo tent on the way into the main stage. (that's what it was called, right?)

nah, that was the DJ tent...the voodoo tent was the same thing as the revival tent. are they still thinking about adding a dj tent? i coulda swore they were advertising 6 stages.

Oh yeah, you're right. Haven't heard anything about a DJ tent. I'm thinkin they had a schedule for it already this time last year so I'm not betting on it.

They had a DJ tent last year, but I don't remember the acts actually being listed on the JamBase schedule......I could be wrong..

I guess that's better about the bleed thru, but that never bothered me cuz I was always seeing the louder of the two acts ;o) ( some of my friends were bitchin tho)...but packing the same amount of people between just the tent and one main stage seems like a problem as well...there were times that I couldn't see jack-squat in that revival tent last year because it was SO packed and you don't have the benefit of the hillside...hmmmm..

Good point BabeinToyland. Perhaps since the other main stage is gone they will enlarge the Revival Tent. It's always seemed too small.

Don't quote me on this... but I heard the main stage will be in the Sun Down stage area, the revival tent might be the same, and the homegrown stage will be in between the two... i also hear the Porch will be inside the Homegrown stage for \"tweener\" sets.
So basically the Campground stage will be the only one that is actually IN the campgrounds.......

hopefully maps will be posted soon!!

Leah -

I was just looking at the schedule... every Porch show is 30 minutes and falls in between Homegrown stage sets. Sounds like your info is spot on.

hopefully they will post a map of the festival grounds in advance.

One of the things I've always liked about Waka is that the multiple stages spread out the crowds. With one main stage the tent stages are likely to be more crowded. If the HG stage is more central, that's likely to make the Campground Stage more crowded, too. I hope they're planning on bigger tents. WSP will likely be a mob scene since there are no other big names playing at that time. Grace is good, though. I've never seen WSP in a large venue (haven't seen them since the mid-90's). I guess if it's just too diluted by the throngs I can dance to Grace.

FYI: I got word that the ticks and chiggars are heinous out there right now. Slather the deet, children. Wookies beware of where you pass out. Stay out of the tall grass.

Thank goodness that they mow and spray before the festival now.

Unfortunately, the spray doesn't take care of the wild boars and brown recluses.

and you can't exactly \"spray\" for leeches in the lake.

Pauly -

I've never hunted wild boar. They weren't around SW KS while I was growing up. Apparently, a shotgun merely agitates them. I think you have to wrestle them. KBDLS and Fat Man in a Tub could probably take one down while you rip a dank nug of bacony flesh out.

hahahahaha!!!!!! Since I only hunt ducks, and all I have is bird shot, I might be better off tryin' to bean one in the melon with a golf disc. I bet a strong driver could take one down

You think we could convince KBDLS and fat man to start a conditioning regimen in order to wrestle that bad boy long enough for me to cut out the back strap???

MMMMMMMM.......pork loin :!:

If you replace \"conditioning regimen\" with \"bourbon binge\", then yes, I think we can.

A wild boar is no match for a whiskey bent southerner going through pork withdrawals.

Just for that I busted open this emergency airplane bottle of High Plains Whiskey and went to the chip machine for a bag of pork rines. You got to get your daily requirement even if you are sitting at your desk, at work, with the man holding me down.

DAMN THE MAN!

Seriously, though, I have a friend who goes to west Texas regularly to hunt wild hogs. He grills it and it is damn tasty!

He would be more than glad to help reduce the Clinton Lake hog population. I'm thinking if it's really that much of a problem the state could hire him and a bunch of other yahoos, and then we can feed the hungry, or sell it at gourmet shops to pay off the hunters.

It can't be an impossible situation. Get creative, people! Death to the feral hogs! Get down to the funky beat!

NO. Even more seriously. Why the hell are you taking food out of the mouths of KBDLS and the Fat Man? We are here to help, we were offered the position, and you are gonna try and backdoor us with some cat?

KBDLS and the Fat Man ride again!

Dude! And Ranch Dressing! You could deep fry a turd, dip it in Ranch Dressing, and a delicacy you would have.

OH! Even Better! Deep fry that turd with bacon wrapped around it.

You'll never catch me, suckers!!!

You bacon lovers can eat my furry little shorts (or the place where the shorts would be if I wore 'em)!!!!

The Bacon Invaders are coming, and they're armed to the teeth.

As for me, I'll stay in the forest, leaping glidingly from tree to tree, eating insects, mostly, you big bacon-sucking meanies.

Damn right. Know why? Because I'm too damn lazy to get up off my chair after a couple bourbons and beers to be bothered by your hopping, leaping feral arse.
