I don't know how many of you are close to the Hannibal Missouri area but next Saturday, April 9th there is a groove-n-rock festival going on out there...I guess it lasts all day and it should be a ton of fun...I don't know all the bands that are playing there I just know that Madahoochi is one of them. I bet that would be a great place to pass out fliers at though!!!
I'm going...anyone else up for a mini road trip?

Hey man when do you people plan on leaving for this trip? If it is early Saturday or the latter part of Friday I'm down like Kathy's clown!! That is a payday weekend and I have to run up to Lawrence April 8th anyways. Let me know... new car stereo and more shows then I can count!!!

I love it...there is someone else out there that is all over the place as much as I am! I think we will leave early Saturday and stay out there over night and do some fun site seeing and stuff and then come back on Sunday...I have never been to Hannibal Missouri, but I looked the place up on the internet and there is a LOT of cool stuff. AND if the weather is nicey nice we can camp out at the camp ground...if not then we are all going to pitch in on a hotel!!! Wooo Hoooo! We will have to come up with a meeting spot...
Anyone else want to join!??

Hmmm maybe it's more of a Jazz/folk/rock fest type of a thingy...
Hillstock 2005, a daylong music festival highlighted with a performance by legendary jazz trumpeter Maynard Ferguson at 8 p.m., will take place on the campus of Culver-Stockton College on Saturday, April 9. The public is invited.
The festival, sponsored by the C-SC Student Government Association, will start at 11 a.m. and conclude with the 8 p.m. concert by Ferguson and his Big Bop Nouveau Band in Alexander Campbell Auditorium on campus in Canton, Mo.
There is no charge for tickets to the Maynard Ferguson concert. Tickets will be available on a first-come, first-served basis Wednesday, April 6, through Friday, April 8, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Alexander Campbell Auditorium box office. Tickets will also be available from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. the day of the event. Tickets also may be reserved by calling the Fine Arts Office at (573) 288-6346. Reserved tickets must be picked up by 7:30 p.m. the night of the show.
The festival also features music from the Culver-Stockton Jazz Ensemble, Joey Harrison, Fallen on Deaf Ears, Dignan, Madahoochi, and Matt Kavanagh. All performances will be held in Alexander Campbell Auditorium.
Ferguson, internationally renowned as a big band leader and one of the world?s greatest trumpet and brass instrument players, is in his fourth decade as a big band leader. With his Big Bop Nouveau Band, Ferguson has redefined big band jazz. While many other bands recreate music of bygone eras, Ferguson and his band draw upon bebop, straight-ahead jazz, funk, swing, classical and contemporary music to create a fresh sound within the classic big band form.
Ferguson, an instrument designer, record producer, composer, educator/clinician, symphonic guest artist and film soundtrack artist, is a three-time Grammy nominee.
His recording of ?Gonna Fly Now,? the theme from the motion picture ?Rocky,? skyrocketed him to pop fame with a top 10 single, a gold album (?Conquistador?) and a Grammy nomination in 1978.
Food and drink will be available throughout the day, served by the Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE). A barbecue will be held from at 5-6:30 p.m. on the quad. General admission is $5 and C-SC students may use their meal plan for the barbecue.
For more information, contact the Fine Arts Office at (573) 288-6346 or e-mail finearts@culver.edu.
