The good news is that we know that the Revival Tent does NOT leak.
The bad news, among other items, is that water will channel into the Revival Tent creating a muddy mess.
Muckarusa!
Allow me to be the first to use this term as applied to the 2008 Wakarusa Festival.
I don't care. We had a great time! We packed so much music into Friday and Saturday that the two good sets we did see on Sunday seemed like sprinkles on the sundae.

I wanted to catch Mickey Hart, but my Sunday night was just fine with David Grisman, Avett Bros, and SLR. FYI, The name I put on it was Weatherusa.

Sunday was great:
That 1 Guy, Grisman (awesome), SLR, Avett bros, Salmon...
taking down camp and getting my pansy little toyota out of deep in campground 1 sucked though. i got stuck like 5 times.

we heard that Grisman cancelled due to the weather. That was when we turned away.... too bad, cuz i would have loved to see everyone after him. Saturday w/ sts9 was far and away the set of the fest. No one else even came close. Panjea was my runner up in the revival tent. Im glad i skipped Galactic for that one...i heard it was just like their show at Granada a few months ago in Lawrence (which i didnt like). Everyone Orchestra, Drum Circle, Yard Dogs late, Ozric in the revival were some of my highlights. I felt bad after sts9 played because nobody was even gonna come in the same ballpark as them after that set. But overall, the 4 stages in one area really hurt the experience for me. i could hear 2 other bands playing when watching shows at the sun up...totally sucked. that stage had eoto, panjea, ozric and all were sub-par compared to their other sets (eoto was better at waka 07 i thought)...that sun up stage really blew. revival tent kicked ass like always...panjea, cake, keller, ozric. im sure grisman was awesome too. pisses me off we heard he cancelled...

if it weren't for the thursday/sunday night cancellations i think it would've definitely been my favorite Waka. its still definitely ONE of my favorites though, just because of how awesome friday/saturday were. Ozrics in the Revival tent was one of my favorite Waka experiences ever.
it seems to me like they kinda went overboard with the cancellations...they were pretty nasty storms but they passed pretty quick. was it REALLY necessary to cancel so many shows, and even worse, fail to inform everyone on what is going on?

Washarusa!!!!
Despite the weather all in our camp had a great time. It's great fun to get to hang with all my old bud's from 35 years ago! We have used Waka as a gathering place for the last 3 years. May be hard to get some of the wives goin again but think of the possibilities if they all stayed home!!!!!! Just kidding!!!!
Saw some great music. Very sorry we did not get a Mickey show! We were told in VIP that all stages had shut down and Grisman was not playing so we missed that. Had never seen Tea Leaf Green or New Monsoon and was very impressed by both. Everyone Orchestra was another highlight.
We rode out the storm in our pop up camper and watched our sun shade become trash.
We will be back.

I do have to admit that one of my favorite parts of the weekend was our impromptu Shelter House Party during the crazy storm on Sunday.

I suffered through the Thursday storm, had a blast Friday and Saturday thanks to being well prepared for the mud and muck. Sunday was cool until the storms came, I was fairly upset to be missing Hart and ZPZ but what can you do? When God (or Ma Nature, or His Noodly Appendage, take your pick) says \"Festival is OVER!\" the festival is OVER :D
About my only real complaint was that, despite me driving all night long to get there as early as possible and secure a camp site with some type of shade and maybe a tree to tie tents and tarps and such to, they directed me once again to the middle of a field where I'd wake up every morning in my easy-bake oven of a tent :(

I agree with Poly. There were some really potentially awesome sets that got cancelled. Especially Lotus -- who totally blew my mind last year. But we got so much music packed into Friday and Saturday that it made up for it. Not to mention getting to hang out with all you crazy forum folk much more than in past years.
Saturday was definitely the best day. We ended up taking in Shagadellic (groom to be), Scarlet Begonias (bride to be) and her brother since their camp got flattened, and came back with some awesome friendships. Then there was all the great music... including, but definitely not limited to, the ridiculous latenight Dirtfoot show. I was able to snag a \"rescheduled\" poster off a recycle can on Sunday so I'll never forget that set.
Every Waka is a new experience, and besides the weather/cancelled music, the people made this my favorite so far. We'll definitely be making the trek once again next year.

the shelterhouse party was AWESOME!!!
Dirtfoot latenight was AMAZING and TRIPPY (do you see that guys eyes)...LOL...yea that was me.
Yard Dog Road show was the underground hit for me...by far the most intense set of the evening.
Blue Turtle Seduction really did a tremedous job as well.
other than that....everything else was pretty good....nothing really stands out as one run away set other than the Dirtfoot Late Night.
Chomp was perfect in everyway!!!
I had a great time and thank everyone for everything that they did to contribute to the great time i had all weekend.
