I noticed there is a pond marked for Fishing on the map. Anyone know what the rules/laws are for fishing at Mulberry Mountain? License required?

under "activities" it says the ponds are stocked and may be fished in. doesn't say anything about having a liscence or fee...

This would be a relaxing activity for sunday to be sure. Just not sure it I could fit poles and gear into my transportation unit.

In arkansas I know if it is a private pond you do not have to have a fishing license. I would assume that would be considered a private pond since it is on private land.

Figured that was the case. Private land shouldn't require a license, but you never know. Afterall, they can't serve beer on Sundays. ;)

So, has anybody been able to confirm whether the beer will be flowing for sure on Sunday? Is it a non-issue now? thanks,

The beer WILL be flowing on Sunday.

I WILL be taking my fishing poles. I thought last year at Mulberry that it cost extra money to fish - depending on the cost, it may or may not be worth it to me.

I'm gonna bring some chicken livers and some minnows. I'm lovin' the thought of a big ol' slab crappie on the grill....fresh outta the drink.

I stopped by the venue this weekend on my way to the river and asked about the fishing. The ponds (5 of them) were stocked years ago by the forest service before the Mulberry folks bought the land. The guy told me that they are LOADED with catfish and bass. He said that they have been underfished ever since they bought the property.

On Saturday morning, there was a young kid that caught a 5 lb. AND a 6 lb. bass within minutes of each other :D

The ponds are on private land and he said technically, you are supposed to have a license to fish anywhere in Arkansas, but that no one has ever been down there to check people.

No need to worry about a license for the weekend......

That's what I'm planning to do. I hope to throw a couple of fat catfish fillets on the grill.

My thoughts exact, I'm gonna work some top poppers and cranks for bass/crappie, in the day and break out the cooler, lantern and livers and try for some of those wiskery f*ckers

I guarentee, given the location, theres bound to be some damn good rainbow trout streams, I may just hit up Bennett Springs on the way back

And Damian- I've got tons of rods

I may be fishing when all you guys are trying to set up in the rain. Fish bite better in the rain :)

wish I had the means to pack live bait pauly......I wanted to bring live bait, but doubt it will last the trip down. Any bait shops nearby?

I'm sure there are, but I wouldn't know where. I never use live bait unless I'm specifically crappie fishing.
