They mention wanting to alleviate traffic congestion and then go on about possible sobriety checkpoints. I'm all for public safety, but I think a sobriety checkpoint would slow traffic to a stop.

man... that sux.

"numerous sobriety checkpoints along the highway."

I don't like the sound of that one bit
I mean... of course I'll be sober on the way there on wednesday afternoon, but I don't want those cops seeing my long-haired, bearded self and think they should take a look through my car.

But, as groovepuppy mentioned, their gonna slow traffic down so much, that plenty of folks will be backed up behind each other, so they probably won't spend too much time with each individual car.

I don't mind them making sure everyone gets there safely - as long as it doesn't bog down traffic or is used as an excuse to step on people's liberties.

Please travel safe and smart!!! There will be plenty of opportunity for non-sobriety once you're at camp. :D

i sure hope peeps know that they shouldnt be drinking and driving anyway. if you dont drink or indulge in anything else then you shouldnt have a problem with the law. the troopers main concern is to get that traffic moving. wait till you get into waka to get weird.

"If they have things in there that they can't handle we will go in and we will enforce the law,"

Hopefully this isn't as ominous as it sounds. I just have a bad taste in my mouth from past years I suppose. This isn't kansas though, of course.

I'm thinking/hoping that because it's private property with hired security that a buffer zone of sorts will be in place by default. The fuzz would only come in if something was going down that merited them to be in there, so let's not give them any reasons to come in. Let's all just maintain a socially responsbile, yet festive community vibe. Everyone can rage and do their thing, and as long as nobody's doing anything stupid/reckless/dangerous all should be well in Waka land.

I'm certainly looking forward to relaxing in the RV campground without the State PoPo golf cart drive-by's every 15 min. like they were @ Clinton last year...that was just unneccessary and annoying.

Everything's going to be absolutely groovy. I have no fears whatsoever. The vibe will overtake anyone who steps on the ground, and it will be nothing but smiles smiles smiles.

Here's to four (or five) days of bliss.....

oh yeah, I know. There's always been MUCH less that went on than the security "could handle" in past years. So much so that they tended to make stuff up to hassle about. But yes, I've heard good things about the police in this area and I'm not worried. It just sounded threatening... experience of past wakas talking. If we'd heard that and it was still at Clinton Lake, y'all know what you'd be thinking.

So excited about the new venue!

Can we stop talking about this already?

Don't drive to the festival if you've been drinking.

Don't leave the festival if you've been drinking.

It's really that simple.
