    Default Phish Festival 8 tidbits

Bunny radio live - Shapiro does several "from the archives" sets, and the playlists are awesome and weird. The aliens usually show up during late night.....this year they hijacked a Jack-FM station from Palm Springs. Been listening all day yesterday and today, and my weekend is planned with the wife, the Bunny, and college football.

    Ph8 Soundcheck

Jam, Undermind -> Devil With a Blue Dress On Jam, Starship Trooper Jam, Gone, Liquid Time

Notes: This was the soundcheck for the 8 Festival. Devil With a Blue Dress On with brief Good Golly Miss Molly tease. Jam out of Liquid Time featured Lengthwise tease. There was also an earlier acoustic soundcheck, but only the electric portion was broadcast on The Bunny (Phish's on-site festival radio, this year also broadcast via Sirus/XM Radio and on the hijacked "Jack FM" radio station, 95.9 in Palm Springs, and via that radio station's website).

The covered the Rolling Stones' Exile on Main Street. Killed it. Maybe best Loving Cup ever.

I had a fvcking blast...the most fun at a Festival since Big Cypress. If Phish did this every year again like they did in the late 90's, my vacation block would be easy to plan.

Seriously...words cannot descibe the experience me and my friends had at this Fest. Not to mention the From The Archives videos on Thursday night on the big screen (Remain in Light, White Album, DSotM, Loaded). Not to mention the amazing sets of music. Not to mention the amazing people that I haven't seen since post hiatus. Not to mention the amazing variety of ale and cali dankness. Not to mention Third set on Halloween night (Fluffhead, Ghost, YEM). Not to mention actually getting to see soundcheck up close due to a security error behind the stage (a story in itself involving Shapiro).

There's a blank space where my mind should be....

My buddy who brews for Sierra Nevada sent me a FOAM sticker:

Too bad I couldn't taste it myself....

The FOAM was really really good. Reminded me of their Pale Ale, but a little lighter. Great brew. They also had Magic Hat which was awesome. The Beergarten had tons of goodies. I ended up drinkin Widmer a lot, because I was with Portland Seattle people, which is fine by me. I lived there long enough to get an attachment to Widmer's Wiezens. The ale did flow.

I ate I Love Spicy Pie Pizza at least once a night, too. Not to mention the Brazillian Churro Meats. There was also a German Sausage stand that was great.

Funny story...there was this actor who was part of the EYE TRANSPLANT drama in the bottom of The Coil installation. He was confronting people who walked by with his "scripted shpiel" kinda freaking them out. I watched this guy walk up to him and hand him a pill. The EYE guy ate it as they patron who offered it said, "This should get you more into yer act". He necked the pill and went on acting in his little play.

Two hours later, I saw the EYE guy outside of his acting environs, really really lost in his own consiousness. I went up to him and asked him if he was okay. "Yeah, but my boss asked me to stop for the night cause I was really losing it in that little booth. I am so spun right now..."

THAT'S what kinda festival it was in a nutshell.
