Default CoMO Dirtfoot this Saturday, 2/13

Alright good people! Who's down for a Columbia dose of grumble boogie? I know I've been jonesing since the Blue Springs show got canceled......

If lots of people are coming (and you should!), I can look into cheap(ish) hotel rooms. Our house will be pretty full, and I think the weather means no campouts this time. If there's a bunch of people, raging a hotel would be easier than crowding into our little house after the show.

If you don't want/can't afford a hotel, but still need to get your booty shakin, let me know. If you don't mind the couch/floor, I might be able to stable you up for a night with some of our degenerate friends.....

We'll be pre-priming at BaconAlien HQ - all are welcome for drinks, burgers, and merriment! Let me know if you're coming, so I'll know how many burgers to make.

Dirtfoot is headlining at Mojos, and I'm hoping we can fill the joint! It's a triple bill with the Monads and the Hooten Hallers, and both opening bands are very entertaining!

    Who's in?

I'm definitely there and I'm hoping to drag along a few other STL folks too!

I've seen the Monads before - they opened for the Hackensaw Boys here a few years back. They play acoustic instruments but are known to get a little wild on them.

    From their website:
From the muddy banks of the mighty Mississippi comes the sheer energy and wild acoustic abandon that is the Monads. By combining elements of Americana, bluegrass, outlaw country and rockabilly with the aggressive delivery of punk, the Monads craft a unique style of music that has been dubbed “Black and Bluegrass.”
They were voted Best Bluegrass Band in St. Louis for 2008 and Best Country Band in 2006. And you gotta appreciate a little lady rocking a full-sized stand-up bass!

I'm there. I needs to get away!! This winter is bugging the living **** out of me and maybe this will help. (Just as long as there isn't another snowstorm here and points south!)

I am pretty sure Krissy and I are in!! I can probably stay at my cousins, but I don't want to miss any of the late night shenanigans thsi time around. Where is everybody else posting up? If you are getting hotel rooms, that would be much easier.

I was thinking about the Regency hotel. It's NOTHING special, but it's the only hotel that's walking distance to the venue, and it's not terribly expensive ($50-60 I think?).

There are other hotels in town, of course, and the basketball game is in Texas, so there should be no shortage of rooms - we just want to get everyone in the same spot.

Website price ("rack rate" as we called it in the industry) is $79. Maybe we can get a Dirtfoot corporate rate?

I called the Regency, and though they apparently don't give a special rate to concert goers anymore, she agreed to hook us up. I don't have any of this in writing, but she seemed to think it was no problem.

    Regency Hotel
    1111 East Broadway
    Columbia, MO 65201-4909
    (573) 443-2090

She asked twice if we were in the band, and I told her no, but she said she would still give rooms to us for $49+tax/etc. each.

Tell them "Jamie said she would grant the Blue Note rate to the people coming in for Dirtfoot at Mojos".

Probably won't find a better deal within town limit, Mr. Earp.....

    wOOt! already excited!

    Thanks!

A bunch of us stayed there last year when they played the Blue Note and wondered why the rates were so cheap, we figured it was a nasty hole in the wall. Most of the online reviews said so, but it has been recently fixed up so no need to pay attention to the tripadvisor comments.... Its a good deal for the money.

That was easy! 1 King bed/smoking room for $49. Thats sweet. They also have 2 beds a room and non-smoking for the same price.

    BOOKED!!!

    WooHoo! See you all Saturday!
