    Default Fort Smith Airport

For you locals... How tough do you think it would be to get from the Ft Smith airport to the campsite? Will anybody be around to get a ride with?

    Cheers for the help

I guess that's probably the biggest problem with having Wakarusa at it's current location.....it's pretty damn far from any major airport.

I would research flights into XNA....which is the airport in Northwest Arkansas. As far as airports go, it's top notch. You are a little father away from the festival grounds, but the Fort Smith airport is very small and you would probably save money, and maybe have 1 less connecting flight by flying into XNA.

I guess they are working to try and get some kinda shuttle thing going, but I don't know any details about that yet. I'll see what I can find out.

it's extremely easy to get from FSM airport to Waka. The drive is exactly 55 minutes door-to-door on a normal day... though Waka traffic will probably slow you down a bit. The big RV's usually have to take their time getting up Hwy 23 (curvy as all hell), so if you get behind one of them, it could add 30 minutes to your drive easy. But overall, the drive is too easy. I think you have to make 5 actual turns total (leaving the airport, getting on the interstate, switching from I-540 to I-40, and then the last exit on hwy 23)

We (my camp) will be leaving Fort Smith on Wedneday night to get into our reserved RV site, so we probably couldn't provide the ride for you, but I know tons of folks will be driving over from Fort Smith, so there's a possibility you could find a ride with one of them.

To get to the Fort you will either connect in memphis(northwest/delta) or dallas(american).

XNA is bigger but is 20 minutes on the other side of Fayetteville/springdale from the site. Probably 1 1/2 ish drive total.

I would post this question a week or so before the festival - the drive to the festival from the fort is as simple as you could imagine and ALOT of people will be doing it... Imagine anyone coming west along I-40 will pass right through the fort, so getting a ride from there shouldn't be too difficult....

Very clean room and the best was very good. I will stay here again and would recommend this hotel to others. There weren't any towels in my room for some reason, but the desk person brought some to us. Otherwise, we have a perfect stay at this wonderful motel. Very reasonably priced for what you get.

FT Smith airport has the 8th best restrooms in the country! And what about those toilets with the "auto-feed" seatcovers?? I was impressed!
