List of things to bring on hike:

    -Pair of tennis shoes

    -Bottle of water

It's a long, long downhill haul!!!!!!

Please be aware that it is a fragile part of the ecology that is on Arkansas State Park land - take only pictures, leave only footprints.

and when you go, never ask the people on their way back up how far it is, it is never a promising response. either way up, or down, really.

it is soooooo worth it though. hopefully we will still be able to get down there, i remember they closed it off last year the last couple of days.

Because it is a freaking long way down there.
IMO the hike was really long and brutally uphill on the way back. There were way to many people down there for me to even think about getting in. So if you go, make sure it is before 11am. That place gets really crowded. Also, the trail is pretty tough, and full of poison ivy.

There are several other places besides the waterfall to swim as well. They may involve getting in a car though. If you get the itch, i highly recommend taking an early morning float on the Mulberry.

Yeah....there are many great spots on the river to swim. Just a short drive down the hill. I've got some friends that own 2 cabins (the BIG rock at Whoop and Holler) right on the river close to Byrd's. I'll probably try and hang there at some point, but may need a ride since it's shaping up that I will be in a huge ass RV all weekend.

Also hopefully the trail down to the waterfall won't get shut down like it did last year. I never got to go, although I'm sure I could have found a way to get on the trail if I had tried hard enough. It's happening for sure this year.
