Thread: Wakarusa Art Contest

  1. #1

    Default Wakarusa Art Contest

We recently saw a thread on the forums here about a few artists wanted to participate in a live painting and not being invited to Wakarusa.

    We want to help

Festival Family is proposing a contest for the artists in addition to the other Wakarusa Ticket Contest we have going on.

    So here are the guidelines.

Artists can submit one picture of their art for the community to vote on.

The art can be in any form, but it must be your creation.

Art should represent the love that one can find only at Wakarusa.

All Pictures most be posted to this thread for consideration.

Final entry will be on May 15th at 12:00pm Eastern

Winner will be announced no later than May 20th. at 12:00pm Eastern.

One Ticket will be given to the winner that the community votes the most times.

    Default One Love

You guys are good people for doing this.
I think that sometimes visual artists feel that they are pushed to the side even when our art meshes so well with the work that the musicians are up there creating.
This is a great thing that you are doing here.
Even if I'm not chosen, I'll still surf away with a warm fuzzy Family feeling in my heart from this thread!

My piece is called ONE LOVE- (it's not exclusive to Wakarusa Love, but it typifies the EXACT LOVE that is found at Wakarusa.
    It's universal.

Thanks again for the opportunity to share with the community.
(This piece was created during 1 set of 1 concert- in the same spirit as Wakarusa.)

    Default Ramblin' Cara Rose

This is a painting I did of my friend, Cara Rose Hula Hoopin' a few years back for a food drive we were doing with local bands in Richmond. It is entitled "Ramblin' Cara Rose". Although my style has gone more to a clean, sacred geometry style, I thought that this would be a great piece to submit because it's happiness is parallel to that which you find at Wakarusa. Lovin' You!

Here is a colored pencil drawing I did of the Sun Down stage in Lawrence. Not nearly the same caliber of work as the previous posters, but it is representative of the energy I felt flowing from the stage at that time. My art is mostly created from a camera or guitar, but I like to dabble from time to time.

    This is some amazing stuff!!
I have heard there are troubles of more than one kind.
Some come from ahead and some come from behind.
But I've bought a big bat.
    I'm all ready you see.
Now my troubles are going to have troubles with me!
