Default Keeping cool for the Tenters

It's been awful quiet here lately so thought I'd leave a random mental note regarding keeping cool in your tent. That is without going to the extent that that person did last year with the a/c unit...who was that?

If you are tenting it and have not been to Waka before I found a couple of great fans last year that really helped give you a little extra time in your tent with the heat. I got a Coleman fan that has foam blades (i know it sounds worthless) and the cost was about $12 and I got a very slender fan off of Amazon by the O2 company that cost me about $25. Both operated all weekend (all night long) on the first set of batteries I put in them before leaving home. We put one at the head of our bedding and one at our feet and it sure made a world of difference getting some good air movement going on.

I highly recommend both fans. Sometimes just an extra 30 minutes of being flat and still can make a big difference.

Okay well there was my random thought...tick tock tick tock....is it May yet?

if you know its not gonna rain, you can take the rain tarp off your tent to get more of a breeze

If I had a boat, I'd go out on the ocean
And if I had a pony, I'd ride it on my boat

True, though I tend to be wary of doing things like this. While at Waka in KS we thought once "well it's windy but doesn't look like rain" then we got to the tent where the show was gonna be just in time to see it white out with rain...not so much fun.

Yes, taking the "fly" off your tent is a form of rain dance I believe, works 72% of the time.

well you don't leave it off the whole time! You always should secure your camp before leaving to catch some shows. I'm just saying pull the rain tarp off when you are getting in bed at 5AM so you can get an extra hour of sleep!

If we have a similar forecast as the last two years, My fly will stay neat and folded all weekend.

I wish I could be as carefree as you phoenix. Even with a solid rain free forecast part of me says keep it on. If I can set up like I did last year with a good shade tarp overhead maybe rain fly free will be the way to go. That's bound to get a person a few more minutes of sleep in the morning. Neat and folded indeed.

The issue with no fly is that then the sun burns down on you like through a magnifying glass, totally negates the purpose of having the fly off. Guess I'll refrain from doing the rain dance and go with my fans.

I have two of the 10" O2 Cool fans. Best purchase I've made in a long time! They are a wonderful, wonderful thing for tent usage, and nicely portable too.

We have got it somewhat figured out. You take the best of both worlds, fans and no rain guard. The trick is puttin a tarp from your EZ-up to the ground and having your tent be under it. It will block the rain and still leave room for air to flow if done right. Takes a few minutes to get it how ya like it but well worth the good sleep youll get the next 4-5 nights and blazing hot mornings. For the fans, the more the merry IMO. Im one of those kids that kinda randomly stalks up for festi equipment year around and grab a few extra fans a year so my sh*t be like a wind tunnel. Nothing well ever make it cold but hey ya do what ya gotta do.

    Thats my 2 cents
