I have a simple setup for when I camp in an areas without electricity.

A large deep cycle battery running to a DC inverter.. attach a splitter if needed... not a power surge protector because they have their own draw. I've never tested it beyond 3 days but I have ran 2 small fans while we slept and my christmas lights when i wanted. Just shop for the biggest fan with the lowest amp usage and do the math. Keep the battery and inverter in shade or under reflecctive tarp if you can. Doesnt hurt to keep a trashbag handy for weather.

If you were to disconnect everything during the day then attach a small DC solar charger then I'm sure you could run a box fan and a laser show every night.

well i have a question. the closer we get to waka the more i read these forums. i saw some people discussing using emergency blankets to reflect heat away from your tent. some said it worked, others had a not so good experience.

to get to the point, does anyone know for sure if its effective enough to spend the money on?

also, i usually sleep on an air mattress or a cot (with a couple fans blowing); any other sleeping arrangements make for not waking up in a pool of your own sweat at 7am?
i have tapestries to hang on the ez up and all of that for shade... any tips are appreciated.

Tastypurp, the furthest the conversation ever got between the emergency blanket peeps was that you could not efficiently connect it to your tent, not with duct tape not with clothspins, not with velcro...ugh. Besides what you are doing or trying Pauly's a/c unit, you like the rest of us will continue to wake up in a puddle of yourself. I have two great tent fans that made a huge difference last year for minimal bucks but I was still out of my tent very early.

just got an o2 cool 10" fan and realized its a 12 volt fan, so i bought a plug that would fit in the cig lighter and had an old 12 v transformer that went to an air pump that had a plug that fit the o2, cut off the transformer part and tossed it, wired the accessory plug to the wire and plugged it into my jump starter, works like a charm. now i dont have to buy 8 d cell batterys for $10. just take the fan and the jump starter into the tent and be cool.

mine still does, the o2 has a place in the side so you can hook it up to a cig lighter, but the adapter cost $10 plus s/h. so i just rigged up a plug so i didnt have to buy batt. cost $2.75 for the plug and 10 min. prob solved. you just have to make shure you wire it up tip positive or the fan will run backwards. hillbilly enjunuity!

    Regarding the space/emergency blankets:

Some people have tents that it will be difficult to attach a sheet to, some don't. Some people can't figure out how to attach a sheet to their tent regardles of design, some people can. Bottom line to me is that it works and if you want it to work you will find a way. Monkeys are quite inventive. As for the cost, emergency blankets are $2.99 at my local army surplus shop and arround that anywhere else. So unless you are the brokest of hippies you should be able to budget a blanket or two if you want to try it out.
