They aren't cheap, but it wouldn't be too tough to homebrew something similar with a tarp. I have used a nice one before and it was badass! You can easily control the height and angles by adjusting the guy lines. You can go from covering your tent to keep out driving rain, to providing shade over a large picnic table with room to move around underneath. They can stand up to strong winds better than the rigid frame of an EZ-up, and break down small enough to fit in a small duffel. The Zing provides 200sqft of shade, but packs down to 28"x6" and weighs under 7lbs!!! Check out this discussion thread where they are endorsed for camping by folks who travel by motorcycle: http://www.bmwmoa.org/forum/showthread.php?t=49528
Just some food for thought....
Push out the jive. Bring in the love.
Thanks eureka! Small world. We missed last year but will be back in full swing this year...parachute and all! Look for the chute and stop in and say hello. Was there somebody from your group that taught ours the proper hand positioning of the cholum? His name is on the tip of my tongue...
Minds are like parachutes and umbrellas-they work much better when open.
