I have had phones charging on it all day (6-8hrs) for four days, and still had enough juice left to charge my dead car battery at the end of the fest. (Bonnaroo 2010) It's pretty handy to have.

Nice. I was gonna get one by the same company on amazon. Powering a box fan shouldn't take much since they don't use much power for the motor. Thanks for the help. I'm looking forward to the extra sleep in the mornings. I might make one of these

Now all I need is an ice delivery service at 7 am. If someone could just reach into the tent, drop a bag of ice into the cooler, and flip the fan on that would be great. I'll have to determine which old cooler to modify to try this thing out. I wonder if this could work better if you you had a dryer vent tube directing the cold air to the back of your tent fan.

Dropping the tent temperature by a little could really extend the morning sleep time. No one can compete with Paully's set up, but this could be an attractive alternative. It's not going to provide the comfort of an afternoon of cool napping, but it could make the morning more pleasant.

Car side ice delivery would be great. I'm probably going to buy my ice the night before. Most will melt, but the left over water will still be cold enough to provide cool air. I don't really want to butcher my ice chests, so instead I'm going to use a tote container similar to this tote_container.jpg
Probably going to have the set up outside my tent, with a vent tube going inside my tent. Also a big box fan inside and silver tarps on the east side for extra shade. I'll be satisfied with an extra 3-4 hours of sleep

Spend the money on a cheap cooler, DBIZ. Even a small amount of insulation will be a huge benefit to making the ice last longer.

The ice you will save = the longer you will be able to sleep in the morning = worth the $15, if you're already making one.

Ya the side walls on those wal-mart bins won't do anything for ya. Might even heat it up a little. They have ready made devices for pretty cheap($25) that will fit into a 20 or 25 quart cooler, and plug into dc powa.

It's been a min. since I tried that method, but it absolutely will change the temp. in your tent. How much should be relative. I think I burned thru a bag an hour(when I was trying to switch it out that frequently).

I also had a gigantor cooler filled with bags of ice, 5 feet away, aaaand a place to dump your spent water.

All that aside, it allowed me to sleep from 7 to noon, literally not bothered by the heat. Still pretty hot in there, but high nineties loves the low eighties a lot more than fifty-four... degrees that is!

Now get back to work!

I think you're talking about the Kooleraire. You just slip it in a ice chest and it's already pre made with fans and a plugin. I've read bad reviews about it, which I why I wanted to make one with a stronger metal inline fan. The Kooleraire is a great idea, but the design seems too cheap

I'm also thinking about just buying a mini air conditioner, like this one for about a 100$.

Just need to figure out if the jump start portable power station has enough juice for the A/C to work.

Alas, your jump station will not have the juice to power even a small AC for any appreciable amount of time. The condensers in an AC just pull too much juice.
