    Cool questions about riverside

howdy folks! i haven't been to waka since it moved from kansas, needless to say i am QUITE stoked for the experience!
i purchased riverside camping because it was cheap, before i really read the description. i had assumed it was the furthest from the action, however what i did not realize is just how far it really is from everything.
    so what i'm wondering is,

1.) is there a drinking water and/or ice source nearby?
2.) is the campground going to be completely baron? (i enjoy having neighbors!)
3.) how much of a hastle is it getting from the campground to the main venue?

if anyone would be willing to lend their insight, i would surely appreciate it. thanks a bunch!

    Welcome, Nellie Banana!

Yes, there will be potable water at Riverside. I don't know about ice, but I would assume it will be available as well (there's no way they would expect you to buy it on the mountain and shuttle it down).

The campground will not be barren. There will be many people there.

Getting from campground to main venue is not that big an issue. Of course, during peak times you may have to wait in line, but they had up to 12 buses at their disposal last year, so things moved rather smoothly, I think.

Just one more thing...you are going to love it on the mountain. We have been doing Waka since the first one in KS then we missed the first one on the mountain and when we got back in 2010 I was leary just because it was different. I was more than pleasantly surprised. Waka is trully at home on the mountain. Welcome back.

Not saying this is true for every person, I have not personally camped at riverside but have had friends do it every year. They are all cool with it except for shuttling back and forth. Many of them just stayed at my site cause it was such a hassle. But like I said, I have never had to deal with it first hand. Don't think I'd wanna have to wait to be taken to the featival grounds when I was at the festival.

Even with the mass amount of buses last year it was a pain in the arse. They say they run 24 hours, but they in fact do NOT run 24 hours a day. When those sassy drivers are ready to call it....they call it. Last year after Ghostland (interstellar meltdown) we waited in the front of the line for about 3 hours before the buses started coming, the then they decided to change how the line barriers were set up, effectively trying to move us from the front to the back of the now long as hell line. Needless to say that didn't go over well and we got on that first bus and got back to riverside camp about 7am. Other than the shuttle situation (it's much easier to catch one during the day) Riverside is very relaxing and peaceful and being so close to the river is nice.

Yea I heard everything is legit except for that one major part. I personally wouldn't chance it and buy a westwoods if they are available, and get it before tomorrow 4/07 cause prices are going uppp. If the shuttles don't scare you tho then you are set up perfectly, right next to the heat saving river. Not Gunna lie ima bit jealous of having a constant water source to go cool off in.

There is a camp ground across the street from the entrance also and you dont have to take a bus to get there. The price is cheeper than main and you don't have to wait in line for busses. Plus you can get your car out and just drive to the river. There are alot of cool places to go swimming right around this area.

Oh and about ice, yes there is an ice vendor down at riverside. The prices seem a bit crazy, but they can be bargained with easily. The other plus side to westwood is it's much cooler under all the trees. At riverside it's pretty much impossible to sleep past 8-9 am because of how hot it gets.
