For festival veterans, what are some good food items to take to the mountain?
Are you bringing any type of stove or grill? I am assuming not since you are hoping to borrow a neighbor's cooking surface but here are my suggestions either way:

If access to a grill/stove, pre cook meat and vegetables a day or two before you leave. Cut up the meat and veggies into bite size pieces and store in heavy duty aluminum foil. At the festival throw the foil meat/veggies on a grill/stove/fire, etc to heat up and you are good to go. Makes stir frys, tacos/burritos, or just eat as is. (tip: season meat when pre cooking them and do not need to bring extra seasoning to prepare on the mountain)

If no access to grill/stove, definitely stock up on sandwich good, nuts, granola. I like to bring bagels and CLIF energy bars for times when I need substance but can't eat a full meal. I would also recommend cut up fruit like katiegirl did. Anything that doesn't need much preparation is what you are looking for.

We also like to keep it easy and not have to cook too many meals. We always bring red beans and sausage the first night. We share meals with the others in our camp...this way you only have to bring enough food for 2 -3 meals. Our always bring list is hummus, pimento cheese, hard cheeses, Salami, granola, bagels, bread rolls, frozen breakfast burritos. Just throw them in a frying pan with the foil still on and turn on low-med w/ the lid on!! Yummy!!
I have heard there are troubles of more than one kind.
Some come from ahead and some come from behind.
But I've bought a big bat.
    I'm all ready you see.
Now my troubles are going to have troubles with me!

Another thought is we cut up chicken skewer it and freeze it in a marinade of a little olive oil water and greek seasoning. then grill on site it eats great plain or in a tortilla as a wrap this is sometimes what we do instead of burgers super yummy or you can cook ahead and use the same way.

We always bring our coleman twin propane stove and this coffee maker for morning java.
Bialetti stove top espresso maker, it makes some serious rocket fuel.

This awesome device lets you boil water from a car plugin. You could heat up soup, boil food in a bag in it, make water for coffee/tea or a variety of other things. Might be useful for those that are trying to cook.

    Thanks for the suggestions.

As for what I suggest, EARPLUGS! Great for getting in some mid-day naps or to drown out the noise of your neighbors partying late at night when you just need some sleep. My employer provides earplugs and encourages us to take them for personal use, so I will be bringing a big bag of disposable earplugs to Waka to share!

Make sure you bring yourself something comfy to sleep on, I used an air mattress last year and it worked great. If you bring one though make SURE to buy a pump that is battery operated. Many pumps are only the plugin kind. The kind I had was a rechargable plugin one (this is where the power inverter in the car came in handy).

A mist fan would certainly be nice to have. This one is pretty cheap on Amazon.

This was by far one of the coolest items I brought to Coachella in 2011 when it was 100s everyday. Walking around squirting ppl non stop to only get smiles and laughs in return was the best. If you get hit by a water mist fan like this at Waka, chances are it could be me!!! Look for the bacon badge

Ok I know Gold Bond has been mentioned here but sometimes its just a little toooo late for gold bond. A and D ointment is a diaper rash cream that will heal and smooth bad chaffing over night. Believe me on this one, some one in your camp (could even be YOU), well be veryyyyyy thankful the next morning feeling soft like a babies butt. Laughs aside this stuff is great and any brand will do.
