Default River Party / Forum Group Texting

So part of my group is staying at Riverside this year, the other part is in the Main venue. As it turns out, my brother has some friends staying at the river and we're going to try to get adjacent campsites so that Friday or Saturday during the day we can host a little get-together. With just our group and my brothers friends, we're looking at 15-20 people already partying at the river - and we're always looking to make new friends.

Let me know what you think about this. We'll have music, drinks, sunshine, the river, and good vibes all around. I figure it would be a cool way to catch up with people from the night before and prepare for the madness of the night to come.

Also, last year at Bonnaroo i was part of a texting group, "The Roo' Tang Clan"

Without it i may never have met some of the crazy characters there.

It's easy set up and if you want a more personalized group for your friends you can check it out at Groupme.com

Basically, anyone interested would give me their number and name (i could use forum names) and then every time you text in that group, everyone can see it... yadda yadda - self explanatory.

It was rarely used during the day but after the last big late night show it would blow up with people looking for a good time - which was a blessing for those of us who were unable to sleep...

Basically just putting this out there for feedback. If no one's interested, i probably won't take the time to set it up.

    Thoughts?

All sounds great and I would love to join you at the river. However, cell phone reception is terrible down at Riverside at Waka. You can manage up at the top of the fest grounds, but I have stayed riverside the last two years. One year with Sprint and my phone wouldn't work, and last year with Tmobile I also had zero reception.

hmm... guess i hadn't really though about cell reception. It was great at Roo' but that farm isn't really off the beaten track.

In that case, i might just scrap that idea.

as for the river party - I was thinking maybe friday before shows start.

possibly a secondary inflatable madness on the river? I'm assuming there are going to be hundreds of inflatables laying around after PL on thursday.

Reduce. Reuse. Reinflate! Yo that text idea sounds awesome but I always lock my phone up in the car during the day cause my trunks only have 1 pocket. That split campground idea is golden. I've always wanted to do it but never had a big enough crew. Gotta figure out where to set up the camp though because most people dont initially camp by the river since its a bit down the path. Some people set up once they find out where the deep parts are. Most people set up along the tree line because the stream is only like 100 feet behind it. My suggestion would be to drive through the actual gate, down the trail to the river and set up camp there. You can even set up under some southern shade. I dont understand why no one does it. I think it's just because first timers dont know about it til Friday or Saturday. I know there isnt as much parking space so maybe it's discouraged, but I would still try. Either way, set up a sign to make the sight noticeable so we can come kick it!

Yeah there are usually only a handful of cars right on the river, but if you drive around that fence that seperates the riverside camping from that field that leads to the river, and then drive back towards riverside, you can get a real shady spot at one of the best spots along the river.

@Brien - totally down to party Friday daytime! I usually spend a good amount of time there recovering Friday morning before I hit the big shows. Let me know and I'll bring my camping stove and plenty of booze.

River Party? I like to party. Nay, I love to party.
You thought the party ended. What you didn't know was that it never ends, the scenery just changes.
