    Randall,

I too am sorry for your loss. Friends are an important part of what makes us whole. We live in Florida, and the Squirrel you knew there is probably one in the same.

    With warmest thoughts

    Squirrelsmom

Also want to thank those of you who have written, it is so helpful to me. If I knew how to send a picture of him, I would.

    Squirrelsmom,

I was worried that he may be the same guy I knew in Florida. If it is indeed, he had spent quite a bit of time at our campsite each year with his friend Johnny. He was really funny and although most everyone is happy at these events, Squirrel always seemed so happy to me. He said he spent a lot of time in the Keys and had unfortunately spent a little time in jail before I saw him last. I wish I would have seen him at Wakarusa as I am sure I would have remembered his face.

This is a small community of very kind people and we all have to take care of eachother and use common sense. Squirrelsmom, if you know how and would like to email me a picture of Squirrel, please send it to randall747@hotmail.com.

    Take good care,

    Randall

Thanks SM. It helps to remind us the reality of drug/alcohol addiction. The reality is that most of us never make it to any kind of meaningful recovery. I have buried a lot of friends before recovery and in recovery I have seen a lot go out and not make it back. Its hard espeically for the young and bulletproof to realize how powerful addiciton really is.

I would be honored to sport a squirrell shirt during the festival. If somebody organizes I am on board. I think it would be a good thing to be able to recognize other \"friendlies\" during the festival. Maybe we can remember him and do some good. I would avoid preaching at people though. Recovery is meant to be a program of attraction. If people are not ready to stop using, no amount of talking will help. I would stand ready to help anybody who wants help though.
