Hunter S. Thompson has inspired many different people, in many different ways. He is the gonzo of journalism and speaks from his heart and mind in a straight forward, serious/honest, and \"who gives a sh*t\" style. Like I said in a previous post, he has inspired me and has rubbed off on me in my writing. I don't try to write like him, that would be wrong on many different levels. If I did I would get no where, people aren't stupid, they'll see right through the words immediately. It would sound faked and filtered. But yet his style is apparent in my words.
This piece I will submit is an excerpt from a short story I wrote coincidentally entilted \"Kill The Body and The Head Will Die\" (-quote from Hunter S. Thompson). His teachings helped this win a \"best new writer\" award from a journalism board in the state of Kansas. Thank you Hunter for inspiring us all.
    This is dedicated to H.S.T.

Alcohol. Driving. Marijuana. Sex. Sex. SEX. Risky Behaviors are all around and they seem to be mainly focused on the youth of today. These poppy do-gooders, muscle-headed jocks, and freaks dressed entirely in black who act like they pray to the devil's youngest son (the cute one) Erik; all targets...and I guess I can see why now. Blindly following one another off the same old cliff, all while babbling terrible gibberish that was brainwashed into their tiny, one-way brains by the media and that 75 pound model who plays a mother on some early late night morning sit-com. Each one pushed over the edge and head first into these so called risky behaviors; all looking for one thing, to feel good. Whether it'd be drinking yourself half retarded in less than 45 minutes all while trying to control your hallucinations off that acid you just ate two hurs ago; or having unconditional, unprotected sex with any and every one at that party that you think you went to last night. The point is we do it. Whether it's to feel good or wheter it's to make new friends, we do it. And do it fairly often for that matter. But we can't be stopped; and with that point, why should we do anything but push it as far as we can. So I vote we take this magical journey, and take it in full stride. Let us ride this incredible wave all the way to the shore and back...just to see where it takes us.

    RIP HST

This piece may be summarized as such:
\"All that we have is this very momnent in time. Nothing more. Nothing less.\"

Last night I watched an interview on the Tom Russert show (I happened to flip by and reconize the guy he was talking with don't worry I don't watch it) Last night was an interview he did on Feb 6, 2003 with HST. They talked about such topics as Hunters gun club and love for guns. I pulled a line from the interview I thought some people might like.

If all the dead heads voted, you know Grateful Dead, we'd have a different president today! ~*Hunter S. Thompson Feb 6, 2003*
    See that girl, barefootin' along,
There's laughing in her eyes, dancing in her feet,
She's a neon-light diamond and she can live on the street

ok. no offense, but I'm laughing my ass off at the, \"maybe we can do something for him at wakarusa.\"

what?!?!?!?!?! Hunter S Thompson tribute at Waka....that's real funny.

I mean, fine. Hunter S Thompson was inspiring in his writing.

But really........people that AREN'T \"famous\" inspire me everyday. Things people say on this board can be inspiring. But nobody's doing anything for them to pay tribute. I just thought it was a rather funny remark.
Sure. God Bless his soul. He lived he died. The end. Thanks for the writings and the inspiration........

his death just brought forth space in this world for someone else to give that search for inspirado........
