    Default Great Unknown

Anyone from the KC/Lawrence area planning on hitting Great Unknown in late May? I would be interested in going but none of my regular crew is going to be able to make it. Wouldn't mind catching a ride with some friendly folk. I am not nearly as unpleasant as my many posts would suggest. http://www.pipedreamproductions.net/

I'll be going to the Great Unknown Spring Extraveganza ((but just from Fayetteville for me... 20 minute drive))... another great \"SPRING ALLSTARS\" one-of-a-kind band for the headliner (w/ Fareed, Eric Levy, Jeff Sipe, ++), those Pipedream cats always putting something unique together. It will be a good place to pass out some Wakarusa flyers too.

Dgold, tell us more about the great unknown. Have you been before? What 's the area like? I remember MOMitch saying it's been in different locations. I saw where they're moving their fall fling to labor day weekend in Sept.

Great Unknown is a very solid well-run festival on a much-smaller scale than Wakarusa. It's smaller but has really good quality acts and they always have a unique/ one-of-a-kind allstar band headliner. The festival producers implement many good ideas to make it a nice experience for the artists & campers. They have late night sets, parade, sky creatures...

They have 2 different locations, the newer place is more spacious, very nice Ozark environs. They're back at the old place for the Spring version this year.

What else would you like to know? I've been to their 3 previous festivals, just keeps gettin' better. Some of the key regional bands always playing at Great Unknown are Speakeasy and Eckobase.

The Great Unknown is one MAGICAL little festival. The fall fest will be held alongside the Kings River in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Eureka is a wondrous and magical liitle \"Swiss villa\" carved into the Ozark Hills...very artsy, winding streets with many unique shops filled with original art, etc. The town's architecture is beautiful. It sprung up around the \"healing\" springs and the old hotels are gorgeous...you get the picture...it is pretty unique.

Oh yeah, back to the music fest...The Great Unkown is very laid back and is definitely what we are all (most likely) looking for when we seek these events. I might even say the festival and the town of Eureka combined can make for quite the mystical experience.

Ok, I'll go back to my meditation cushion now! hahahahah
