Default Desperately Seeking Over 40+ Waka Goers!

Over 40 and till trying to support and enjoy great live music? Tired of your Dwight Shrute office desk bobble head being confused for an Elton John statue or asked by that same office mate if you've ever seen Celine Dion or John Tesh in concert? Secretly listening to Satellite JamOn station when everyone else your age sings to The Beach Boys? Yearning to meet other plus-age minded lovers of Big Smith, Panjea, The Orzic Tentacles and Delta Nove or for that matter----to even KNOW that they exist out there somewhere mixed in with the younger/non-silver-haired Waka whippersnappers? Well look no further! Let's meet this summer '08! Go to some shows! Make new friends! Share a meal! Convince others that yes,...they too can REALLY stay up through the wee am for some great music even though it's waaayyy past normal bedtime! ---I know you are out there!

    Default a secret

my mom taught me I can stop counting at 23, and that's exactly what I did. Every now and then I have a birthday just for the hell of it, but I DO NOT always count up. Seriously, I worked with a nurse in Colorado that was 65+ and skied triple black, played tennis/racket ball, and God only knows what. I know it may be a cliche', but it sounds like your LIVING proof that age is but a matter of the mind.

I never plan on getting old. Seriously, when I was 27, I forgot my ID in the car and wasn't planning on drinking that night, so I let the door ppl put BIG BLACK X's on my hands. Later that night, this girl got talking to me and was \"totally\" into me b/c she thought I was under 21 too. And I'l tell you what, I personally don't think its because I look THAT young. I like to think of it as because I feel that young - think, believe, dance, love . . . and you shall live forever even if your mortal body might not.

If you see me at Waka, feel free to hang out and Jam up some good music. :P

    Thanks for your reply.
It all makes sense to me.
I was actually hoping to build some comraderie/community thru this summer's festival with getting this age group communicating with each other/hanging out, etc. You know what I mean? I'm not even sure how to go about it but I still like the idea. Mainly, cause like you, I know these people are staying young and trying to have fun and enjoy themselves/life. That's more the types I want to be around.

White Owl always hits on my sister. He's gotta have a good 50+ years on her. Last time she said \"Um...youre old\" to which he replied \"But I'm young at heart, baby\"

Tho which she replied \"no....youre old\"

Not saying your an iconic pedophile that people worship because he wears groovy pants (You lose whiteowl) but this thread made me think of that guy.

I think that you will find quite a few 40+ folks at Waka. I know that I am one on them.

Yes, they are there...it's the plucking them out from the masses...I'd like to do! This will be my 4th Wakarusa and it feels like this age group grows bigger each year. I'd like to meet more!!

Hmmm....does 39 count? I'm almost there. And, can a person be both \"young at heart\" and an \"old soul\"? People of age have much to offer. I seriously doubt I will ever get too serious about life...I like staying young at heart. But, having the maturity and wisdom of years brings a certain completeness to life.

Last year was my first Waka. For many years of going to NO shows (after Jerry died), I thought the music magic was all gone. Fortunately, it's not only still here, but stronger than ever!

Thanks to Bogmonkey (who turns 40 before Waka) for getting his little brother back into things!

Well however you BogMonkey (?) brothers are..you sound interesting.
I would love to get a community of 30+'s together at Wakarusa this year.
    Somewho.
    Just interesting in building community.
Gotta keep stayin' young, that's for sure!
I work in a stuffy office with others 10 years younger...who are big bores and don't do anything fun, inspiring or new.
I refuse to be like that, don't you!
