i would love too but what in the hell am I gonna do in the dark. I have this 3 year old clone of myself that needs constant attention and love and well, it's not like I can take him to the park. What about a movie? Can I qualify on turning my lights off if we go to a movie theater? We'd play rescue heroes but it'll have to be a hour long coal mine cave-in mission; but let me tell you, while he's crazy for flashlights, glowsticks, and all kinds of that stuff - its very short lived.
Read a book I hear some hippie voice in the back of my head telling me, but ever try to read a book in the dark? And don't tell me to use a flashlight because, as i've already said, he'll go crazy trying to get my flashlight away long enough for me to have to get it back.
Or perhaps I'll take him and his mother for a walk in our super safe city of Dallas, TX. ROFL!
So anyways, not that I don't applaud the effort and the statement - even China lovin google is on board with this thing. Its just I would like some nice

We had a candlelight dinner and talked about how we could lower our bills (footprint.) I thought it was pretty simple to just turn off our lights for an hour?

When I was 3 yrs old in 1957 my bedtime was 8:00.![]()
I put on my Waka camping head lamp to see to pour a beer and listened to Brian Eno's Ambient 1 on batteries and headphones.
Opened the window shades and had a fair amount of light just from the light pollution of streetlights, f*cking parking lots & car dealerships.
I read somewhere the percentage of people alive today who have never seen the Milky Way, its ridiculous. You sure can't see it from my back yard.
I hope you take your kid out to the country to see the stars when he's old enough, at the rate its going your grandkids may have to be in the middle of the ocean to see them.
Cast your dancin' spell my way
I promise to go under it...

Yikes, that's what I'm talking about.
You can see a dark patch in northwest Nebraska, the astronomy geeks have a gathering at a state park there every year where all light other than red flashlights is banned so they can use their mega telescopes.

Yep, we had an ice cream social in the dark while I read a book to my son. He didn't like the book as much as the flashlight but hey, we did our little part.
